They're definitely "related" already. No doubt about that.

But I think they're related, as in family. Someone we don't know, although I could easily see it being Prescott Bush, spread his genes around pretty freely. And his offspring, bastard and otherwise, were handsomely rewarded.

On a whim tonight, I decided, after reading about what a banner year The Carlyle Group had in 2011, to check out their three founders. These are some of the most powerful men in America that nobody ever hears about.

I am behind enemy lines.

I am visiting my father and his wife, my stepmother.

We make it a point to try as hard as we can NOT to discuss current events or politics.

Trouble with my Dad and me is that we both enjoy discussing both things. We have that in common. We have a surprising amount of things in common except he's an extreme right winger and I'm not. We have come to the point where we can actually discuss things as long as others don't intervene. I am now post-partisan. I hate Obama as much as he does, even if for different reasons. We both think that getting rid of all the politicians and parties and starting completely over is a good idea.

But my stepmother. She loves Sarah Palin. Now she loves Michelle Bachman. Today she came out and said it.

Tonight I saw Bachman sales brochures and mailers on the kitchen table. She is probably giving money to Bachman's campaign.

I actually kind of what to ask her...
