The Massachusetts Masons have taken out ads on major radio stations and print ads in NY, CT, MA, NH, VT, and RI in a massive campaign to promote an "open house" going on this weekend. The radio ads talk about the charitable works and community support, and the civic brotherhood of the Masonic orgs, specifically mentioning among other things the Child ID program.

In the ads, they say (paraphrasing) "most people are unaware that many of America's founding fathers were Masons..."

"All Masonic temples will be open this weekend to receive prospects..."

The grand lodge (AF&AM or something) has been on a recruiting drive since as long as I can remember...even advertising in student newspapers. That chip business is some creepy shit.

FourthBase: ever thought of snapping their picture? Since it's right across from the commons you're basically photographing public property...

is to stake it out for a few days (ideally major masonic days, if I knew what those were) then put the pics on some of the p2p networks and other places they can't be removed...

I figure if I'm at the poit of nowhere to go but up then whatever they do to me can only help me.

It's curious...they don't actually DO chip implants, and yet that technology too is being pushed in other news stories. But they don't do those at these drives, right? but it's called mychip. I wonder if that's another way to push, getting your kids REALLY chipped, with rfid style chips.

slimmouse: expecting 1.618 or something a bit more funky? It looks about that, if you know what I mean.

I bow to your source -- the egyptian approximation would be fitting with what I know of the masons...that's a rather wide door. Next time I head to chinatown I'll eyeball it -- the door in question's on my way there.
