AJ was talking about how his uncle flash the masonic sign for distress, and the judge let him off for murder. Not a bad thing to know, eh?

I painted the eye in the pyramid on the hood of my car. I met a lot of interesting people this way.

As far as secret hand gestures go, they aren't as universal as they used to be, all the old ones were published in the early twentieth century, and they couldn't all agree on new ones. In a local lodge though, communication could be far more direct and still be silent, which is the point, eh?

I opened a Mason jar once.

I see people do it on CSpan all the time, that touching the nose thing. Some of them slide the finger down the side, some of them just tap a nostril, some of them pinch. But it's always immediately before or after a crucial bit of dialogue, and it always involves an evasion or equivocation. I've played enough baseball to know when there's a sign being given. Kerry did it A LOT during the campaign.

Re: Kerry and Bush, neo-cons esp., but the odd neo-lib (Kerry), and always the TOMB uses certain coded phrases:

"the gentleman" for example, is usually in reference to a non-initiate, of whatever specific system. Bonesmen used to leave the room when the cult was mentioned, but that's mostly at school functions, in public, full initiates might instead, clear their throat, and take out a handkerchief or some other such thing.

According to "The Shadow over Santa Susana", Charles Manson was a master of masonic handsigns. Homeless, do you know what book they were published in? Anyone have a link?

I saw Patrick Fitzgerald do it at the news conference, and it happens all the time at sporting events. Close-ups of coaches, players, even officials. Apparently, there are Masons everywhere! Knicks coach Larry Brown is one of the worst offenders.
