Prison conditions would be given more attention if we didn't have these separate penal institutions, one for the elite, and the other for everybody else.

SPR Stop Prisoner Rape

www.spr.org/main.html

Edited by: chiggerbit at: 5/25/06 6:08 pm

The incident referred to in this article involving Missouri inmates in a private Texas prison was immediately brought to mind when I first heard about the Abu dog/prisoner pictures.

www.cannabisculture.com/a.../3472.html

HMK,

Well, something like that could work toward suspending elections as well. I don't want to let my imagination run too wild here, but nothing surprises me anymore.

Edited by: pugzleyca3 at: 5/25/06 7:14 pm

may he rot...

Bastard stole my parent's savings. They had all their 401k's etc tied up with the state of IL retirement who (of course) invested heavily in Enron. Torture ain't good enough for him, meat grinders, scissors and impaled, smoking voodoo dollys come to mind. Frankly, we have to admit we can't hope for rape in prison...I mean those fat repubs have to pay to get it from Jeff Gannon in the first place, who would bother?
I hope they start connecting the dots with 'der governator's' cozy relationship w/Ken ...

Short clip of Lay's post-conviction statement, linked within this article:

money.cnn.com/2006/05/25/....htm#react

"I firmly believe I am innocent of the charges," he said outside the courthouse. And then he repeated it again. I firmly believe I am innocent. I'm sure he truly does as a devout and adept disciple of the corporate culture. He then adds this: "We believe that God is, in fact, in control - and indeed HE does work all things for good for those who love the Lord. And we love our Lord, and ultimately all of these things will work for good."

Dare I ask, which Lord is he referring to?

Also:

Quote:
The verdict is a major victory for the government, and marks the end of one of the most scandalous chapters in the history of corporate America.

Phew, glad that's over! Now, back to the ticker....

I love Ken Lay's statement of "I firmly believe I'm innocent of the charges against me." That's just so in character for him. The man's so dishonest that he can't even tell a straightforward lie

-Sepka the Space Weasel

No, he is utterly convinced of his own innocence and, in fact, of his own Rightness. Not only did he not do anything wrong, he is/was working on behalf of Good. I love the possessive he deploys, referring to OUR Lord. Possessive and Possessed, methinks. He sends a message to his corporate brotherhood that their Lord will favor them in the end, so keep up the good fight (see Skilling's statement too) boys.
