Ocean’s Glory

Among the key sources of renewable energy, there is the ocean power. The ocean’s wave power has recently gained a whole lot of popularity because of its zero contribution to global warming. Although 70% of the world energy is met by burning fossil fuels like coal or the natural gas, it leads to a great deal of greenhouse gases. In those respects, ocean water is considered a safe way of producing energy.

The power in the ocean is present in the form of tides, waves and ocean water temperature difference. Waves are formed by the wind blowing over the ocean’s surface. This energy is captured using point absorbers from the surface waves or from below the surface. The tides are caused by the gravitational effect of moon over the earth. This energy can turn turbine fans and generate electricity. Ocean turbine power can prove to be a great untapped, renewable energy resource.

When there is a difference in temperature between surface water and the water below, it possesses a great deal of energy. The shining sun heats up the surface water and makes it hotter than the deep, cooler waters. In some areas, the temperature difference can be very high. The greater is the temperature difference, the better is the electricity generation.
