Republicans are running on the following platform:

What horrible things will happen if the Democratic Party wins control of Congress? OMG ...Speaker Pelosi! Higher taxes! Investigations!

That's all the GOP has to run on ... fear. Well, why aren't we turning that question around? Why are we not asking Americans:

What horrible things will happen if the Republican Party maintains control of Congress?

So let's pose that question and come up with all the possibilities. OK, I'll start. First, the continued quagmire in Iraq and possible war with Iran. Second, rising gas prices and continued dependence on oil.

Your turn.

Third ...

Oh, the divisions we have set before us.

I don't think either party is going to "save" us. They all drink from the same filthy well.

Take a look at the Dem's voting records, for the most part, they collude with the Reps to snatch our freedoms away.

IF and this is a big if, there were to be real elections, which I think we haven't had in decades, there might be a chance for the people to take back some modicum of power from the government by ousting all the encumbents and starting with all new blood in both houses.

But I'm not putting much stock in any of what I just said happening.

Bunch of fuckers, all of 'em.

(I hate everybody today, in case you didn't notice.)

Pugsley, you said it! RE: "Bunch of fuckers, all of 'em."

Oil,

Welcome. You're new, I guess, and probably well-meaning.

Once you start reading here, you'll figure out why I'm telling you this:

You might want to back away from peddling the "Dems will save us if they just get their agenda straight" crap.

Are you kidding?

Personally, I've been there, done that, and already burned the stinking t-shirt.

Many of us have crossed our own private Rubicon since November 2004.

There's no going back with the current system. It's over.

If Kerry were president, we'd have more troops in Iraq. That was his campaign pledge.

Well, if the Dems do come to power and things keep on going down this same road, we'll know the real truth about it then, won't we?

Damn shame we have to buy the cows before we get to taste the milk.

Oil, I couldn't argue against your points about the current administration, but I would echo Wolfmoon Lady in suggesting you consider looking BEYOND the false left-right dynamic.

Next to my computer, lI have a list of all the members of the Senate who voted against the reauthorization of the Patriot Act last March. They are all Democrats, but there are only 10 names. There are 44 Democrats in the Senate right now, 55 Republicans, and 1 independent.

Do the math.

It doesn't matter which letter you put next to the name, the majority of politicians in either party have been co-opted, blackmailed or bought.

To exact real, substantial change in this country will require much more than adding a few more spineless Democrats to the 34 who supported that unholy and unconstitutional piece of legislation.
