Remember Brian Wells?

Postby Ted the dog » Tue Apr 11, 2006 3:09 pm

I was doing some spring cleaning last night and I found an article from Newsweek about Brian Wells...the pizza delivery man from Eerie, PA, that was killed when a necklace bomb he was wearing went off during a robbery attempt. I had forgotten about this case entirely. I don't seem to eer remember seeing it up on RI...and maybe it doesn't really belong here...but I thought I'd post it anyway...to see what people remember:

www.crimelibrary.com/noto...ar_bomber/

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Wells

www.usatoday.com/news/nat...usat_x.htm

A more recent article:

www.foxnews.com/story/0,2...60,00.html

here's a website put up by Brian Wells' brother:

www.brianwells.net/

Quote:
A high school dropout in 1973, Wells had done little other than deliver pizza for 30 years, until he received a call to deliver at an address a few miles from the Erie, Pennsylvania "Mamma Mia Pizzeria" for which he worked. It was later found that the address was that of an unmanned radio tower at the end of a dirt road.

Yeah, I remember this. The radio tower thing really stuck out to me at the time.

I was sort of wondering why people hadn't brought this up recently, considering that Kyle Aaron Huff was a pizza delivery man. I guess it's not a compelling enough connection for the more suspicious to latch onto, but I think the world of pizza delivery is a largely untapped source of future quasiparapolitical speculation.

"A crooked stick will cast a crooked shadow."
Edited by: thoughtographer at: 4/11/06 5:02 pm

this reminds me of the recent canadian donut shop incident. i'm sure i've seen this plot in a movie, but the suicide bomber getting away from as many people as possible seemed like something you'd do if you couldn't do anything else.
