How repugnant -- all of it, including the incompetance and criminal misfeasance that resulted in Mendezes' murder and apparant absolution of the secretary and shooters, but the rascist-motivated negligence that allowed the paratrooper to die.

If THAT doesn't reveal endemic state-sanctioned bigotry and rascism, nothing does.

But that happens in the US a LOT, more than most people realize -- especially in jails and prisons, and I think its gonna get worse.

--quote--
Mr Hardwick said he was "disappointed" that the officers directly involved had refused to cooperate with the IPCC review.

He also emphasised the inappropriate behaviour of officers caught on CCTV tapes on the night of Mr Alder's death.

The footage shows the paratrooper dying with his trousers around his ankles. Monkey noises are heard being made at the beginning of the officers' shift and after Mr Alder's death.

"I do not think these noises were directed specifically at Mr Alder," Mr Hardwick said. However, he added: "If the racist connotation of these noises was not obvious to the officers, they should have been."
--unquote--

The officers 'chose' not to cooperate with the IPCC review? That should be automatic grounds for dismissal, forfeit ALL benefits. Immediate.

We have the same thing in the US, members of the military who point-blank tell sitting members of Congress, "I will not answer that" or "I decline to comment."

WHATHEFU????

"Sergeant (at Arms), arrest that man!" (For contempt of congress).

As far as that goes, contempt of Congress is close enough to treason to merit some serious shaking-in-your-boots.

I assume the UK policemen didn't know the man they allowed to die was a paratrooper, eh? A fellow brother-under-arms preserving law-n-order. What a pathetic-sad commentary on a fucked-up society. Did that incident get the public loud and pissed and downright disgusted?

Making monkey noises too. Oh christ.

Starman

Slimmouse said:

"Rather symptomatic of those making the noises wouldnt you say ?"

-- Actually, such a comparison is insulting to non-human primates (excluding lemurs also). They sure haven't done anything to merit being saddled with the burden of crude human traits. I daresay some members of our species could learn a few things about dignity and decency and compassion from our sub-genus relations.

Starman
