All of Abraham's family, especially his son Henry.

Edited by: FourthBase at: 12/5/05 2:34 am

Specifically, Henry Zapruder was a DC lawyer for the Justice department in 1963, and went on to be a tax attorney for Baker and Hostetler. Is that firm connected to anything shady?

Also, if anyone has links to any shadiness involving Richard Ben-Veniste, I'd appreciate it.

Ben-Veniste's firm is Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw.

Granted, he is of course part of the 9/11 whitewash and Watergate charade...but I want the dirt on him about those two things, and maybe other dirt.

Baker & Hostetler was Cleveland's #3 firm...

Postby banned » Sat Nov 19, 2005 5:01 am

...after Jones Day Reavis & Pogue and Squire Sanders & Dempsey.

The "Baker" was Newton D. Baker of Cleveland, who became Woodrow Wilson's Secretary of War.

In the '80s/'90s the firm expanded out of Ohio (I think when I interviewed with them they only had the Cleveland and Columbus offices) and now have offices in DC, New York, LA, Houston and Denver among others.

I interviewed with them for a job my second year in law school. The high point or perhaps low point was some officious prick in a monogrammed oxfordcloth shirt who made a point of telling me he went to Harvard and took Con Law from "Larry" Tribe. I went home and quoth to my then-boyfriend, 'What a bunch of pompous asses.' They proceeded to hire and then blackball one of my friends who was also one of the top students in our class. This woman was not only brilliant but a very conscientious person so I have no idea what happened--I could posit she found out something she wasn't supposed to or otherwise crossed some powerful partner. In any case the hiring partner in the firm I ended up working for, who was interested in recruiting female litigators, considered hiring her but after a meeting with some of the other attorneys withdrew his support for the hire. He and I were close but he wouldn't tell me what he found out, only that, basically, she was radioactive. A few years after THAT my law review editor, another brilliant woman, was fired by B&H for an alleged 'conflict of interest' that she didn't know she had...till she walked in one day and was given 15 minutes to clean out her desk.

Make of that what you will.

In the Cleveland legal community Baker & Hostetler was considered a blue chip corporate law firm, of course. Bizarre how lawyers distinguish between the corporate types, who defend the political slimeballs and Ken Lays of the world but are supposed to be respectable, and the 'ambulance chasers' and 'slip and fall' lawyers, who may not wear fancy 3 piece suits, or have taken Con Law from 'Larry' Tribe, but aren't ass deep in white collar crime and dirty politics.

Was Abraham Zapruder Jewish? At one time most corporate law firms were either WASP or Jewish and it was rare to see Jews in the WASP firms. I'm sure that's broken down now.

Re: tax attorneys: for the rich and powerful, nobody knows more about them than their tax counsel!

I never knew Zapruder's son worked for the DoJ. Gosh, that's not suspicious or anything.

Here's Henry's blurb from the law firm site. If you have questions why not email him?

"Henry G. Wow, banned, thank you for the info on B&H, you're a fucking treasure here.

Indeed, I read "The Firm" I know what tax attornies know.

Eventually I just found much of the same stuff on Henry, but I can't contact him because I was researching Zapruders due to an incidental degree of separation from one of the younger heirs.

Did everyone already know that Abraham Zapruder was a White Russian Freemason who worked at a CIA front company and belonged to CIA front organizations? That was a little surprising to me.

Edited by: FourthBase at: 11/19/05 3:02 am

Zapruder

I did not know that.

That heritage rules out a Jewish ancestry, incidentally.

Well, why not? Maybe that's why Paw Paw's family found Germany inhospitable?

Consider Abraham Lincoln...

It was exceedingly common for New England Protestants to name their children with Hebrew names taken from the Bible.

Samuel Adams

Joshua Barney

Daniel Boone

Abraham Buford

Benjamin Chew

Joseph Cilley

Jonas Clarke

Isaac Davis

Nathanael Greene

Samuel Hood...

That's from a book on my family library shelf, The Golden Book of the American Revolution. I consulted the index, and got as far as "H", to give readers some idea of what I'm talking about.

Edited by: robertdreed at: 11/20/05 6:59 pm

...for the irrelevant.

Nobody said that Biblical names weren't big with Protestants, especially in the US.

In Russia and Eastern Europe being Jewish was a good way to get killed. If you weren't Jewish you sure as hell didn't run around using any identifiers that might make some wandering Cossack think you WERE.

I thought someone said Zapruder was born in the Ukraine, ever hear of pogroms?

In the early 1980s my boyfriend's Ukrainian grandmother hated Jews with every ounce of her being, in spite of the fact that she was born in this country, had grown up in a Slavic neighborhood with zero Jews in it, and then moved to a WASP-y area where likewise she never saw a Jew. She worked for 40 years as a housekeepr for some rich WASPs. My guess is in all her 75 years other than maybe accidentally sitting next to one on the bus she encountered 2 or 3 Jews a YEAR. But she grew up in a culture inculcated with hatred of them.

Do you think she'd have named one of her kids ABRAHAM?
