Here's the latest one: Student Fires Gun in Mo. Middle School JOPLIN, Mo. Oct 9, 2006 (AP)— A 13-year-old student wearing a mask and a long, black trenchcoat fired an AK-47 into the ceiling at his school Monday morning after confronting a pair of students and administrators, telling them "please don't make me do this," officials said. I remember reading somewhere that the original "trenchcoat mafia" weren't even wearing trenchcoats at Columbine, anyone know if that's the case? Can't find the reference now.

Four of the killers at Columbine were indeed wearing trenchcoats. But they wern't the only ones: 2-2-96 Barry Loukaitis, 14. Frontier Jr. High School, Moses Lake, Washington. Dressed in all black, trenchcoat, 3 dead, 1 wounded. 12-1-97 Michael Carneal, 14, Heath High School in Paducah, Kentucky. 3 killed, 5 wounded. No trenchcoat but he was dressed in all black with combat boots. 2-20-98 "Kentucky Occult Teen Killers" six young people plead guilty to killing a couple and their 6-year-old daughter. Natasha Cornett, 19, the reputed ringleader of the black trenchcoat wearing group,told her first lawyer she was the daughter of Satan. 4-19-99 Two students at Evans HS in Appling, Ga, are arrested for threatening fellow students. They wore all black with trenchcoats and were involved in the occult. Rumor had it they were planning to attack school in conjunction with the Columbine attack. 2-05-01 3 teens arrested for planned attack on their high school in Hoyt, Kansas. Each possessed a black trenchcoat. October, 2001 Five teens from New Bedford, Massachusetts are arrested for planning an attack on New Bedford High School, Mass. The teens "are suspected of a plot to shoot faculty and classmates and then kill themselves" on the roof of the school. They wore long black trenchcoats and died their hair different colors. .....They collected "satanic and death writings" 12-8-01 Four young people--Kyle Hulbert,18, Michael Pfohl, 21, Katie Inglis, 19, and Clara Schwartz, 19-- are arrested in Loudown County, Virginia for the stabbing/slashing death of biophysicist Robert M. Schwartz, 57 at his secluded farmhouse. "The suspects favored all-black outfits, long black (trench)coats." "....killings had 'cult overtones' " The suspects "...are said to have a fascination with ... Satanism." 6-29-03 Joseph Hunter Parker, 30, killed two people with a samurai sword at an Albertson's supermarket in Irvine, California(Orange County). He was wearing a black trenchcoat and green beret when he was shot to death by police minutes later. 7-7-03 Oaklyn Public School, Camden, NJ Matthew Lovett, 18, +two boys, ages 15 and 14; wearing black trenchcoats, arrested after they attempted to carjack vehicle; on their way to attack school. 3-21-05 Jeff Weise, wearing black trenchcoat, shoots seven at Red Lake HS. 10-30-05 William Freund, 19, wearing a black cape and a paintball mask went on a shooting rampage in his upscale Southern California neighborhood(Alisa Viejo), killing a man and his daughter before committing suicide. 11-20-05 Tacoma Mall Shooter Dominick Sergio Maldonado, 20, 6 wounded Wearing long black trenchcoat when he began his rampage. 2-15-05 Two teens, 15- and 17, arrested for planning attack at Quartz Hill High School, Lancaster, LACounty. The boys dressed in the Goth style, characterized by black clothing, black makeup and nail polish and piercings. 10-19-05 Lafayette Goth killer Scott Dyleski Oct 19 2005 (Pam Vitale victim) 2-1-06 Black trenchcoat-wearing Jacob D. Robida, 18, New Bedford, Massachusetts gay bar slasher/shooter. 3-20-06 Kyle Huff, 28, Seattle rave slayer, 7 dead owned a black trenchcoat, attacked a party of goth ravers. 5-11-06 Hans Van Themsche, 18, wearing a black trenchcoat, shot 3 people on an Antwerp street. "It looked just like the man had stepped out of the film 'The Matrix'." 8-30-06 Alvaro Rafael Castillo, 19, Orange High School, Hillsborough NC 1 lightly wounded, suspect's dad dead at home 9-13-06 Kimveer Gill, 25, Dawson Junior College, Montreal, Cananda 2 dead, 18 wounded

Schwartz was found murdered in Leesberg, Virginia. Dr. Schwartz was a well-known DNA sequencing researcher. He founded the Virginia Biotechnology Association where he worked on DNA sequencing for 15 years. On Wednesday, December 12th the Washington Post reported: "A well-known biophysicist, who was one of the leading researchers on DNA sequencing analysis, was found slain in his rural Loudoun County home after co-workers became concerned when he didn't arrive at work as expected. Robert M. Schwartz, 57, a founding member of the Virginia Biotechnology Association, was found dead in the secluded fieldstone farmhouse southwest of Leesburg where he lived alone. Loudoun sheriff's officials said it appeared that Schwartz had been stabbed." ----- James Madison sophomore Clara Jane Schwartz, 19, will go before a grand jury on charges of first-degree murder following a ruling last Thursday. Schwartz allegedly conspired with Kyle Hulbert, 18, to kill her father Robert M. Schwartz, 57, a nationally renowned biophysicist. Clara Schwartz's father was stabbed and slashed to death with a 27-inch sword in his Mt. Gilead home early last December.
