Such a storm in 1989 caused power grids to collapse, causing a five-hour blackout in Quebec.

Monday's forecast was announced by scientists from agencies including NASA and the National Science Foundation, based on research centered at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Colorado.

There is disagreement on exactly when the new cycle will begin -- one key researcher predicted the cycle will start in late 2007 or early 2008, and another said it could begin either late this year or in early 2007. But they did agree that the most severe storms won't begin popping on the solar surface for several years, but when they do, they'll be huge.

The solar storms in the past have knocked out huge power grids and screwed up global electronics and data communications, but "the next sunspot cycle will be 30 to 50 percent stronger than the last one," the scientists said in Monday's statement.

Reaching that 50 percent threshold would make it the most intense solar cycle since the late 1950s and the second worst since the early 1700s, Peter Gilman, one of the researchers, said in a phone interview.

Astronomers will monitor the sun daily in the coming months to see how it's doing. Early warning signs will be the formation of large groups of sunspots, which are clusters of solar magnetic fields that are cooler than the rest of the sun.

"I look (at telescopic images of the sun) almost every day, thinking, 'It could be today,' " said David Hathaway, solar physics team leader at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Alabama. He compared it to "waiting for the first sparrow of spring."

Solar storms can happen at any time during an 11-year solar cycle. However, by far the worst storms are likeliest to occur during the period known as "solar maximum," or solar max for short. The last solar max was in 2001.

The scientists are confident of their forecast for 2012 because they've successfully used a new computer model to "forecast" the past. That is, they used records of old solar cycles to figure out how the sun should have behaved during eight past cycles, as far back as the early 20th century. They "forecast" the sun's past behavior -- "hindcasting," they call it -- "with more than 98 percent accuracy" the scientists said.

"I'm really excited about this (discovery)," said NASA's Hathaway. "It's based on sound physical principles, and it finally answers the 150-year-old question: What causes the sunspot cycle?"

The cycle's victims could include space satellites. The coming storms could heat the upper levels of Earth's atmosphere, causing it to expand and exert drag on low-flying satellites -- perhaps enough drag to tug some of them back to Earth. Solar storms have been blamed for the U.S. Skylab space station's premature fall back to Earth in 1979.

Air travelers could be affected, too. Since the end of the Cold War, to avoid headwinds, airlines have increasingly flown subpolar routes to get between the United States and other Northern Hemisphere continents quickly and cheaply. But during solar storms, they must avoid the poles and fly more southerly routes.

They do so partly in order to avoid having their radio communications disrupted over dangerous polar terrain and partly to avoid exposing passengers -- especially pregnant women -- to the increased radiation, said solar-storm expert Joseph Kunches, chief of the forecast and analysis branch of the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Space Environment Center in Boulder, Colo.

The northern and northeastern portions of North America are historically more vulnerable to system outages caused by solar storms than California and most of the Western states, said Gregg Fishman, spokesman for the California Independent System Operator. That's possibly because among other things, he said, there's a higher iron and mineral content in the North and Northeast that conducts the ground current more easily and allows for more of an impact during solar storms.

Forget 2012. Look out for what's predicted to arrive in the next few weeks, the Galactic Wave.

The Web references we found were removed within a day or so... but Dragon wrote about it.

Here it is:

The Galactic Superwave. It's com

users.gloryroad.net/~bigjim/i

Let's go back a bit. Remember the post about Scott
Stevens and the regular earth tremors that JPClarity
brought to our attention only a few days ago, and
subsequently got mentioned in the most recent
Captain's Log? Recall this phrase?

"A civilization 'context changing' event or series of
events appears likely to occur on or after the coming
March equinox."

Funny thing about that click-on that Scott Stevens
posted. He withdrew it, and I wrote about that
yesterday, and how odd it was. He passed off some
excuse that he may have been given erroneous
information, and was waiting for more information
before he put it up again. He hoped to have the new
information by the weekend, he wrote. The weekend is
here and gone, but the link to the tremor charts is
not there.

When I looked at the site the first time, there was a
link to the site you see above, and the subject was
the Galactic Superwave. The Galactic Superwave
information is found further down the page. Hey! That
link is no longer there. Hmmm.....

When we learned of the existence of these regular
tremors under several volcanoes, we went into action
and stopped them. The story is told in the previous
Captain's Log. Soon after the log was published, like
maybe the next day, Scott Stevens posted a disavowal
of the information he had previously posted. And then
soon after that, the link to the Galactic Superwave
was no longer on the site.

Scott posted his disclaimer, and someone on this forum
posted a story about the whole thing being a part of a
regular test of their volcano monitoring equipment,
which seemed like a hastily contrived explanation to
me. It is not logical to believe that Scott Stevens
has been unaware of the existence of such tests for
all these years. And if they recently started, why?
The signature of the test impulses on the graph did
not resemble the tremors signatures posted earlier.
The cover story was enough to dissuade a few people, I
suppose, but this is an over-average group here when
it comes to understanding cover-ups and hidden
agendas. And no one here believes anything the
government says until they deny it! :-)

So, we went looking for outside help this morning. I
had already read the Galactic Superwave story, and
figured that there was substance there, but the one
who posts the story is viewing it through the filter
of his own belief system. We needed something beyond
that. My old friend Carroll came around this morning,
and she didn't even say hello before she began to
download information.

"You can't stop them all", was the first comment. And
we were off on a journey of listen and learn. There IS
something coming, she said. And it will be here
shortly after the equinox. This month. Remember I told
y'all that back in August of last year there was the
announcement made that there's a new sheriff in town?
New sheriff indeed. What we saw was just him and a
handful of deputies, and the non-resident aliens are
now gone. That didn't solve the problem, though. The
second and third tier of the Illuminati command
structure is still intact. And they have not just
world rule on their mind, which is bad enough. They
are Armageddon bound, and they must be stopped.

The Galactic Superwave is real, all right. But it
isn't quite like the guy who hosts that web site sees
it. The sheriff has sent for reinforcements, and they
are coming. They are coming in overwhelming numbers,
and this will be the end of the trail for the whole
rotten bunch of sadists, misfits, murderers,
opportunists, and child-eaters. The sheriff's posse is
coming in force, and they will clean up this mess.

The posse is here in the form of the Cloud People,
whose presence we announced a few months ago. They
were the outriders, scouts and forward observers for
the main group, which you will see in a matter of
days. They re-populated the sylphs in the sky, and
when the main body arrives they will bring with them a
higher vibration for the earth.

The vibratory level will go up, and for those of low
intent and negative orientation, they will feel like a
bug on a hot skillet.

There's gonna be a cleansing, and it ain't gonna be
cheap and it ain't gonna be painless. We here at
Z-Force Group, with a little help from our friends,
have thwarted all of the dark side's plans for
'natural' disasters. But there are natural disasters
coming, and there's no way we could stop them even if
we tried. The earth is changing, this is the natural
order of things. This planet was designed to be one of
intense experience, and life here is lived with the
uncertainty of volcanoes, mud slides, and all sorts of
violent weather as a part of the physical and
emotional landscape where we act out the dramas that
are our lives.

Look for earthquakes in some of the expected places,
and maybe in some that are not. Heads up, Ellie! The
New Madrid fault line is on the list of possibilities.
Rick, in L.A., you would do well to seek higher
ground. Walls of water are coming, and I don't know
where. Japan, possibly, and Taiwan. Last thing I saw
in my mind this morning before I woke up was a
skyscraper half-submerged in water. Could be anywhere,
and more than one place. I just don't know.
Apparently, Seattle is not going to be left untouched,
either. Sorry about that, Purba. But you'll be all
right. Hawaii may be a dangerous place to be for a
while.

This cleansing is not going to happen over a weekend.
This will be a long-term and thorough cleansing.

The polar axis has shifted some, and may shift more.
When the new one is established, it will have moved
about 20 degrees away from where it has always been.
This may be caused by the higher internal temperature
of the earth, which has melted some glaciers and
changed the earth's center of gravity. First thing
that happened was the slower rotation of the earth,
but the inner earth did not decrease its rate of spin.
So there was friction, and internal heating, and the
glaciers began to melt. The glaciers melted and threw
the earth off-balance, and now it has found a new axis
for spin. A simple thing like internal warming has had
a cascading effect that will change the way we live on
this earth.

The net effect locally, and by locally I mean the
lower 48, is that we will all be moved closer to the
equator. It has already started. Spring came here in
February of this year. Part of the reason that the
glaciers are melting is that they have all moved south
a ways.

This is gonna change a lot of weather patterns. The
normal expectation is for hurricanes in the Gulf of
Mexico. We are likely to see more Atlantic hurricanes
now. The Gulf Stream may be re-routed. Monsoon season
will change, as will the location of the monsoons.
Europe is going to be colder. Siberia already is. We
won't be growing grapefruit in Montana, but Canada is
going to be a less challenging place to live for
temperature sensitive people like me.

As for the Dark Side forces that we've faced for so
long, gone are the days when they were able to
initiate action and orchestrate the flow and direction
of world events. All they can do now is react, and
assume one fall-back position after another. The end
is in sight. I'm wondering now if they saw it coming.
The man who hosts the Galactic Superwave site has made
gathering and understanding information about it his
life's work for the last fifty years. If he knew, then
the dark ones knew, too. And maybe that is what the
underground bases were for all along.

Until the posse arrives, there's work to be done. I
went looking in on Lockheed Martin in Denver on the
night of 2 March. Lockheed is as close to being fully
in charge of the government as you can get without
moving the White House to Denver. They're running the
show, folks. I found them in a meeting. The subject
matter was the earthquake machine that had ceased to
function. I posted that story on the forum. Subsequent
to that date, I went looking for an upstream
connection to one of the participants in the meeting,
a lady named Patricia.

I followed an energy thread from her that led to
Condoleeza Rice. I had already spotted Rice as a
potential replacement for Dead-eye Dick Cheney, and
wanted to head off that possibility if I could. So
Ms.Rice and I danced for a while, and when I was
satisfied that she was no longer a contender, I
followed an energy thread from her to a Rockefeller,
but I didn't stick around long enough to learn which
one.

Now, Ms.Rice is a person with many connections, and we
saw that she and Patricia were plotting a scandal that
would un-seat Dick Cheney. Un-seating Dick is a noble
goal, all right, but not if it is gonna benefit Condi.
So, that situation has been resolved, we believe. And
Dick is on his way out, even without Ms.Rice's help.

The attack on Iran now appears to be an improbability.
The bomb in the Detroit stadium was to have been
blamed on Iran, and used as an excuse for the attack.
There is no excuse for an attack now, and not time
enough to create an incident to justify one with
enough lead time for the controlled press to drum up
public support for a retaliatory strike. To borrow a
Pentagon phrase, it an O.B.E. situation. Overtaken By
Events.

An attack ain't gonna happen now. And that whole area;
Iran, Iraq, Turkey, is going to be so unstable with
earthquakes as to make any kind of overt action
unlikely. Unlikely, also, is for the war in Iraq to
continue beyond the end of the year. There will be
disasters aplenty of the natural type here in the
States, and more ineptness on the part of elected and
appointed officials to deal with it. There will be a
call for a return of the National Guard. In short, it
is all un-winding for the Dark Side now.

The higher vibratory level of the earth will
extinguish a lot of people, removing them from the
stage. The higher frequencies will make it impossible
for the present world order to continue, and it will
be replaced. It will all seem so 'natural'. Events
will happen, and our minds will process them as
separate and individual. Only by rising above ground
level experience will we be able to see that this is
all part of the process of dismantling what is, to be
replaced by what will be.

I have seen the future, my friends. I have seen it in
the intelligent eyes of the children who smiled and
talked to me as I made my rounds at schools. I have
seen it manifest as a million acres of eco-farmed land
in Australia, at last count, and countless more here
in the States. I have seen it in the free energy
devices that exist in the here and now, waiting for
the right moment to appear. I have seen it in the
scores of low tech and high tech healing devices and
modalities in service right now. I have also seen it
manifest as law students who turned their back on
Alberto Gonzales in protest. The story made the news
today, and that was not the first time. I saw the
future yesterday in the eyes of my little grandchild.
I have seen the future, and it is grand.

All civilizations crumble. The most well-documented,
of course, is the Roman civilization. Western
Civilization has had it's day in the sun, and is now
on the way out. Oswald Spengler saw it coming and
wrote THE DECLINE OF THE WEST in the beginning of the
1900s. So this is where we are on the curve of
history. The world we know is crumbling at our feet,
and some are desperately trying to stop it, not
knowing the futility of it all, not knowing that it
will be replaced by a much better world.

It is gonna be a bumpy ride, but the payoff is that we
are here at the foundation of whatever is to replace
the existing world order. It is our chance to leave a
mark, make a difference, set the tone and the course
for what comes next. It's wet cement, folks.
