I don't want to hear another word about Fat Americans

Postby pugzleyca3 » Sat Nov 04, 2006 4:43 am

LOL! This was so weird to find this article. Since I was just griping about how I was sick and tired of the rest of the world calling Americans fat:

Two-thirds of teenagers too fat to be soldiers

Richard Norton-Taylor
Friday November 3, 2006
The Guardian

The British army is planning to extend its training for young recruits because so many potential soldiers are obese, an official report discloses today. The military has had to relax its criteria over the physique and weight of recruits as a result of the problem.
"Increasing levels of obesity and resultant health problems reduces the number of young people able to join the services", warns the National Audit Office, parliament's independent watchdog. It points to research by the army last year which showed that only a third of all 16 year-olds would pass the body mass index set for all recruits to the forces.

MORE HERE AT LINK

P.S. If I thought I might get sent to a hellhole like Iraq, I'd spend all my time in the deli!

Edited by: pugzleyca3 at: 11/4/06 1:45 am

A small anecdote.
A short while back, I went down to the local off license for a couple of beers.

As I stood in the queue, I decided that I fancied a shandy instead, so I turned to the lemonade rack.

I wont touch any of the Diet drinks, because I know they all contain Aspartame ( E951) - For more information on this vile additive, and its history, visit dorway.com

So I firstly pluck a cheap "non-diet" lemonade from the rack, and turn and look at the ingredients ;

"contains aspartame"

So, I place that back and go for the 4 times as expensive Schweppes lemonade ( former advertising logo - "SSSccchhhhhhhh, you know who")

I look at the ingredients, and sure enough ; "Contains Aspartame".

"Sssscchhhh.....you know what "

One of the side effects of the said poison of course is to induce carbohydrate craving. I stopped drinking diet (because of the aspertame) and switched to water as much as possible and we have lemon trees, tangerine and orange so I can make fresh juices and ades most of the time. Organic teas are great subs as well. Nature is wonderful, isn't it? I use stevia to sweeten most things instead of sugar if possible, doesn't always work that great when baking, etc. but suffices most of the time.

Are you in the U.S.? If you don't mind my asking, because I haven't noticed the labeling here on the sugared drinks as saying they contain aspertame. Though it wouldn't surprise me in the least if they had some obscure law that says they don't have to include it in the labeling or some such loophole.

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

I don't know about the sugared drinks, but aspartame is in chewing gum, mouthwash and in many other products we wouldn't suspect. Same with msg, another potent neurotoxin and actual cause of weight gain. If scientists wish to create a bunch of fat rats for drug tests they give them msg and viola! they get fat fast. msg goes under a number of different names and came be put in foods in a viruatally unlimited fashion--one such name is hydrolized vegetable protein, another is maltodextrin. Floride is another horror story.
These bioactive poisons are destroying our health. Does the FDA care? Oh no, they spend their time pursueing
the local small farmers for trying to sell their very healthy organic raw milk to a tiny market of health food "nuts". Recently, my raw dairy supplier was on his way to a drop off point and was arrested and harrassed by a whole carload of these goons in uniform working for the state ag department. They
stole his organic turkeys and eggs to bring home to their families, laughing about the "good meals" they would have. They then went
to his farm and terrorized his wife, confiscating their computor and making it impossible for them to conduct their business or earn a living. All our calls and e-mails to those responsible for this have been laughed off by officials who claim to be upholding laws...

Stevia is an herb. The leaves are used, it comes in a liquid or a powdered form. I've read you can grow your own pretty easily, but never tried it.

sugar

Postby darkbeforedawn » Sun Nov 05, 2006 1:35 pm

An apt comparison of the effects of aspartame and msg vs the effects of sugar on the human brain and neurosystem would be like comparing coffee and meth. Aspartame damages faster and the effects are permanent. Sugar is a sweet poison that erodes our health slowly and surely over years of use. The herd is being culled. Many call Parkinsons disease Rumsfeld's disease because he is the person as CEO of Serle who pushed aspartame through FDA and into our food supply. There is a direct link now between use of this product and Parkinsons. They make millions on this product by the way, as we die slow agonizing deaths.

Is there anything not tampered with in some way (food)

Postby pugzleyca3 » Sun Nov 05, 2006 6:28 pm

With all the goings on about veggies and ecoli and samonella, my one perceived safe haven for food has now been snatch away from me: plants. I'm afraid to eat anything nowdays, not that that stops me when the stomach is growling, but for cryin' out loud! I don't have the space to be self sufficient where I am and if the jet fuel pollution is as bad as recent articles say, is even the organic food polluted?

Oh, and since the guidelines for organic food labeling have been relaxed, I've notice a lot more "organic" food at the regular grocers.

Sigh.
