Not that I have a particular hang-up about that...<br><br>I view tests like IQ more as measures of intellectual skill than genetics. You know, if you're going to talk genetics, talk genetics. Don't mix in a soft-science rubric from social psychology class, replete with univariate scales. banishment of "externalities", and statistical probability estimates. <br><br>I picked up a few months of work a few years back grading public school achievement tests for McGraw-Hill. Those aren't IQ tests, but the overall methodology is often quite similar. I know what they're capable of measuring, and what they aren't capable of measuring.<br><br>What most of the IQ researchers miss is an appreciation of developmental psychology in their considerations of prowess in scholastics and academics. Developmental psych isn't to be measured by sketchy parameters such as "income level" or "occupation of parents." It's much subtler- and much more prone to getting fucked up by mass public education systems. <br><br>The Jews have more history than most other cultures. They've also cultivated literacy more than many other cultures. (guess i shoulda clicked the link.) but wouldn't such a thing if true, be attributable to "just" generations of better-than-average education? and is it really surprising anyway, if somewhere there does exist a "grouping of persons who can be said to be 'the smartest' "?<br><br>i mean, somewhere out there exists the worst doctor in the world, right? so same as the worst doctor exists and could possibly be identified, a smartest group does actually exist?<br><br>i say a big fat so what in any case, and i guess there's legitimate curiosity about a lot of stuff of minor importance compared to what our priorities have to become, but i sure think some of these researchers could find better ways to spend time and money. i'll say it again, cell-phones will dance before we get around to feeding the starving. don't appear to me like any of us are all that smart. thats a fact.<br>i have always hated the whole genetics/racial purity "thing".<br>my worry is more as to why people would want to study this,why the need for differences that make one group of people superior to another.<br>i am all for celebrating difference, i just dont see why this study was even commissioned when there are more pressing issues that trouble mankind <p></p><i></i>

Thank you for the chuckles.<br><br>I saw an article today in my local (SF Bay Area) paper that there have been problems with school segregation in Silicon Valley. No, not what you'd think, not white parents who don't want their kids going to school with blacks because blacks. No, white parents in Cupertino (home of Apple Computer, which has nothing to do with the story but I love factoids) are taking their kids out of schools with a lot of ASIANS because the Asian kids get such high grades that a white kid with a B minus average is at the BOTTOM of the class.<br><br>As Jack Paar (who I don't think was Jewish but I'm not sure) always said, I kid you not. <p></p><i></i>
