I am just interested because I met van der Stoel in Skopje, FYROM. He was there in 2001-2002 in the capacity of honorary human rights envoy for OSCE (which is not mentioned in the NNDB bio) promoting a <!--EZCODE BOLD START--><strong>private</strong><!--EZCODE BOLD END--> multi-ethnic University project (The Southeastern European University) - which, by the way, fueled ethnic and class tensions further. <p></p><i></i>

on info,<br>but i couldnt find anything in english so didnt really go looking for anything more indepth in dutch,it was all over the dutch media at the weekend,but with little background on gladio itself,gladio is portrayed as a resistance movement/stay behind army and nothing sinister..<br> <p></p><i></i>

ah, sorry - i am embarrassed. dutch reads closer to english than german does. for a moment there I thought myself suddenly more proficient in understanding "german" than usual. Obviously not. But I might have a chance with dutch! <br><br>I suppose now that dutch media has been reporting this, it may have a chance of spreading to other euro-networks. we'll see - I'll be interested in keeping an eye on this. <br><br>My impression of VDS, despite being rather decrepit, was that he is also creepy. A gladio connection might help explain more about his policy direction with regard to education in southeastern europe. It's always something financial, sure, but also always something more sinister - and this is a pattern I've been learning more about re: many of big players operating in the balkans, which was a prelude to Iraq II. <br> <p></p><i></i>
