The Dalai Lama used to support a CIA-backed resistance against China.

This is why the California buddhist and Asian culture-loving cultural creatives are encouraged to put Free Tibet bumperstickers on their cars, to keep hostility to China alive in the US public and the US military even though the business elites have worked out economic arrangements with Chinese leaders.

book-
"Forward by his holiness the Dalai Lama"

Edited by: Hugh Manatee Wins at: 9/27/06 9:19 am

"..It was only when the Dalai Lama noted that US soldiers were not plastering Bagdad with Free Tibet stickers as agreed upon that he began to speak out against his CIA masters..."

Edited by: 4911 at: 9/27/06 12:38 pm

"soured his view"?

I try to view the Tibet CIA connections in the best possible light. China did invade...people need allies...the world isn't perfect.

I can't imagine how any outcome of the Iraq war would be consistent with Buddhism.

Some illusions are really hard for me to part with and I'd have to say this is one of the really tough ones for me. I had vague awareness of this for years but I really hate to see that sort of thing.

We'll all be walking in the Dalai Lama's sandals when

our Chinese overlords assume formal control of our continent. They've already bought and paid for it.

The Dalai Lama is completely about Compassion. So have some compassion for a guy who has seen everything and everyone he loves destroyed by the world's greatest totalitarians who are teaching bushco how to do it. We'll have our abilities to be compassionate to our tomentors challenged soon enough.

There are good guys and bad guys on the earth right now and Tenzin Gyatso is one of the good guys.

Namaste.

Correct me if I'm wrong- I don't have time to do the legwork right now- but it's my impression that some folks were displeased by the Dalai Lama for not supporting a more militant insurgency against China in the years following their 1959 invasion of the country.

What a load of shit. The Lama's defined totalitarianism. A feudal society that lasted to the mid-20th century. A serfdom ruled by God-monks. Ask the Tibetan's who tried to hang on to their animist-shamanistic system about the compassion of Tibetan buddhism........

Open your eyes for fuck's sake.
