Both the art image and the photo appear to have been created at the exact same location. The symbolism I see in the album cover is while someone is doing the actual dirtywork with a detonator someone above them is actually orchestrating the entire event.)

News Release:
Two new or soon-to-be-released albums are being pulled for artwork revisions because they depict events similar to the recent destruction of the World Trade Center in Manhattan.
In the most dramatic and uncanny of the two, the pending release by the notoriously anti-corporate Oakland-based duo the Coup shows bandleader Raymond "Boots" Riley standing in front of the exploding World Trade Center Twin Towers holding a detonator. The flames appear in the same areas as the initial devastation caused by the two airliners that crashed into the buildings Tuesday (Sept. 11).

A statement was issued Wednesday (Sept. 12) by the band’s label, 75 Ark, that said, "75 Ark recognizes the importance of artistic freedom.
However, recent extraordinary events demand that we create new artwork for the album."

Label spokesperson Toni Isabella told allstar that the artwork had been completed "long ago," and that while the covers hadn’t yet been manufactured, the image had been posted online by the label’s publicity firm, Girlie Action, which has since pulled the art. Isabella says that their efforts to eradicate the album art from the Internet began two hours after the catastrophe, but were hampered because the publicists were based in Manhattan not far from ground zero and did not have access to their site.

"People were getting it from their site and passing it around, and getting all heated up and in a fervour," says Isabella. Girlie Action released a statement on Thursday (Sept. 13) saying, "Due to the inability to gain access to the Girlie Action offices we are obviously late in responding to the unfortunate situation surrounding the Coup' album art for their upcoming Nov. 6 release of Party Music (75 Ark). We removed the original album art image from our Web site.)

The Coup, fronted by Riley and DJ Pam (Warren), debuted with the album Kill My Landlord in 1991. The new CD, its fourth, is titled Party Music and will see a single called "5 Million Ways To Kill a CEO.'' Guests on the album include stic.man and M-1 of Dead Prez. It's due for release Nov. 6.

www.anomalousreality.com/ar/1111/wtc_coinc.html
