Help me make a sign, please. And a challenge to you.

I am going to make a huge sign and hang it on the front of my house. It is to be in protest of 9/11, the Patriot Act and the Iraq war. My house is nice and wide, 30 feet to be exact, with a balcony to hang this sign from, so there is plenty of room to write things on it. Should I use sheets and a black magic marker? I don't want to use paper, want something more permanent. I don't have a homeowner's association here to mess with me, either, so unless the gubmint comes and harasses me... Well, I've had enough of this crap and this is just one more way to apply some heat, isn't it? How many of you are willing to do just this much? If you can get away with it where you live. The sheet is good, but you better use spray paint unless you want to be there all day and night. What will your sign say? On second thought, for all weather endurance, you would be better off getting a large sheet of 3/4 inch plywood.

I don't know, I need some help with that. Plywood sounds great! And spray paint! What can I put on there that will make people take notice when they see it? It will have to be powerful and short statements for them to get any of it when going by, I guess. I'm scared, but EXCITED!

Thanks, Yablonsky and Sunny. Are you going to put your sign on your house, too, Sunny? Misery loves company! I guess the least I can do is to paint the background to match the rest of the house, huh? <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/laugh.gif ALT=":lol"> Oh, and as far as legalities are concerned, I guess if I refrain fom putting up .com addresses on it and maybe make it look halfway stylish, "they" can't say it's a commercial billboard? That's about the only way I can see that they could make me stop? Anyone know about this stuff? Regardless, I'm putting it up until someone forces me to take it down. And if they do, I'm calling the newspapers and tell them they made me take it down. heh! Base the sign on fact, not a slogan. (Even if the slogan is a message from a founding father) Not just a number, though, like "2,500 dead". That's useless, IMO. Go for the jugular. Some 9/11 facts would be my suggestion. 3 or 4 of the most unnerving and best documented? War games, insider trading, etc. Make it short, but not too short.

How about: 9/11 Was an inside job. We were lied into Iraq. The Patriot Act guts the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. NSA is spying on you. Not necessarily in that order. Or just a couple of these? What it says is so very, very important. I hesitate on the 9/11 meme but... it is a wake up call. Oh, I just happen to have a brand new canvas tarp, too. Still in the package. That would be much easier to hang than plywood, too. Thanks for the suggestion.

Those aren't really the kind of unnerving "facts" I was talking about. Yes, they're true. But I'm talking about more specific information. Even as opinions, those aren't really shocking. Well, except the 9/11 one.

I'm entirely open. Got any concrete suggestions on how to word it? I want to make sure people know what I am talking about. And shock value would be great. Problem is, there are only a couple of seconds for people to see it when driving by the house. Maybe if I'm lucky they'll be curious enough to slow down and read it.

I don't know, if they'll only see it for a second or two, maybe slogans would be better after all. Then again, best case scenario would be that somebody throws a hissy fit and sues you or something, because then your sign might get TV airtime. "9/11 was a war game"? Maybe even put the slogan in question form... "Have the 9/11 insider traders been caught? No." Something like that. I'm sure others here will have better suggestions.

The airtime would be great. But I am not in the mood to be sued. (oh, looky a rhyme with iambic pentameter, what can it mean? heh!)
