Postby prophetlady » Sat Aug 13, 2005 2:14 pm

Just now watching a videotape interview with him on Alex Jones' PrisonPlanet TV.
www.prisonplanet.com/arti...london.htm

Not familiar with this guy (sorry!) but he seems very knowledgeable and sincere. Meacher is a onetime leftwinger in the Labour Party who became pretty mainstream under Kinnock and Blair, but then suddenly seemed to rediscover his Left credentials again during the Gulf War.

Not sure how genuine he is. But then how can we ever be?

Ellie

Meacher tends to have automatic respectability and credibility being a 30 year member of the British parliament and a 6-year member of Blair's cabinet (as the Minister of Environment), until he was fired about 3 or 4 years ago because of his opposition to genetically engineered crops. He wrote an outspoken and controversial article in the Guardian titled "This War on Terrorism is Bogus" I believe in Septmber of 2003 which greatly annoyed Blair and Bush. The article questioned whether the 9/11 attack was an inside US government job to provide a pretetxt for the Neo-Cons desired wars in the Middle East to take control of its oil resources. Meacher also wrote a preface for Griffin's book A New Pearl Harbor.

He's written & done loads of media supporting quite a number of pro-Bios, anti-war/corp.globalisation causes, including GMO's, climate change, & oil depletion. Not quite the passionate visionary Monbiot is, but similar bent.
Read nothing of his that really smelt, sometimes underwhelming (aren't we all), but i regard as a 'friendly'.
