The first piece was shot as the attacks were underway. We found this quite moving largely because of the comments made by the shooter and someone in the room with him. It is a powerful reminder of how our memories and later gained knowledge inevitably obscure our true initial reactions to such events.<br><br>We asked West about the video and he responded, "[The shooter's] statements about "rocket" and "zinged it" are distance and angle misperceptions. I put that segment first to remind everyone of what they were doing, thinking, feeling that morning. Sure, everyone remembers themselves being patriotic and angry, but no one was. Confusion, shock, and innate feeling that we did this to NY for some reason is what I get out of in depth questioning of people. . . The only points I am really trying to make with this video are: 1) We don't know the truth. 2) We have been manipulated. 3) We should do something about this.<br><br>The remaining chapters deal with more disturbing questions: what were the explosions that rescue workers and others heard?
