Fascinating -- I'm currently reading Doug Valentine's recent book "Strength of the Wolf," a history of the US Federal Bureau of Narcotics (predecessor of the DEA). The book spends a lot of time relating the difficulties the FBN had in making major cases against major heroin smugglers, because so many of them were working for or protected by the CIA. When I heard about the cocaine plane, the first thing that struck me was this: the quantities of heroin Valentine talks about are a few kilos here, or a few hundred kilos there -- nothing on the scale of 5.5 tons of cocaine. <p></p><i></i>
