Remains of Douglas Joel Stone, 54, who was a passenger on the same flight as Martin, were also identified.

The identified remains were not among those turned up by recent searches in the Ground Zero area.

Some families of the 2,749 people killed in the Twin Towers attack will gather at Ground Zero later Thursday to demand a comprehensive search by forensic experts after the discovery of bones by workers clearing rubble from manholes two weeks ago.

Since then more than 200 body parts, ranging from 1 inch to 12 inches in length, have been found.

"We must show our absolute solidarity at the site where the remains of the 9/11 dead have lain ignored and unburied for over five years," organizers of the rally said in a statement. "It is time to stand up and be counted. There can be no more haphazard discovery of human body parts and personal effects."

"We demand a scientific, well-organized controlled survey of Ground Zero by a reputable entity.""

www.nydailynews.com/front...3404c.html

"More 9/11 vics ID'd

Remains include attendant knifed in bid to save Flt. 11

Three more 9/11 victims were identified from remains found at the World Trade Center site - marking the first time in more than 20 months that DNA has been matched to the list of the dead, officials said yesterday.
The city released the names of two of the three recently identified victims, including a brave flight attendant who was stabbed by Islamic terrorists after she tried to stop them from hijacking American Airlines Flight11.

"This is really nice because I can finally bring her home," said Karen Martin's younger brother Paul, who will come to New York to pick up her remains in the coming days.

The new identifications were not linked to the recent discovery of more human remains at Ground Zero or the city's decision restart the identification process using more advanced DNA technology.

Officials said the new identifications were made because relatives of the victims recently gave the city medical examiner additional DNA samples.

The second victim whose identity was released yesterday was Douglas Stone, a 54-year-old New Hampshire businessman who was also aboard Flight 11. The city did not identify the third victim at his family's request.

"This comes right out of the blue," said Stone's brother, Albert.

Stone's and Martin's families both said they had submitted DNA shortly after the terror attacks, but heard nothing for years. In recent months, both suddenly got calls from the medical examiner requesting more DNA samples.

City officials would not say why the IDs were made now, apparently long after the remains were found.

Ellen Borakove, spokeswoman for the medical examiner, said she had no reason to believe the initial DNA samples were lost. She said the request was made for more DNA because the initial sample "apparently was inadequate."

Martin's family held a memorial service for her a month after 2,745 people were killed at the Trade Center. Without her remains, they buried an urn containing soil from Ground Zero.

Yesterday, Paul Martin said they will hold a funeral service for her at an undisclosed location in her native New England.

City officials emphasized that the remains of Martin, Stone and the third man were not found among the hundreds of remains recently discovered at the former Deutsche Bank tower or a manhole on West St.

The discovery of those remains has disturbed many victims' families who are demanding a more thorough search of Ground Zero. Some 1,148 victims have yet to be identified. The city is planning to hire more forensic experts to help hunt for remains at Ground Zero. The search could take as long as a year.

"We will make sure we have the appropriate resources to do this job," said Deputy Mayor Ed Skyler, who is overseeing the operation.

"The mayor's orders were very clear: 'Do what needs to be done.'"
