New Tribes Mission

Postby Sweejak » Fri Oct 14, 2005 10:02 pm

.... "Though New Tribes had come under fire from leftist university professors and the capital’s intellectual elite, criticism would shortly come from yet another, but unexpected quarter: the military. In 1976, Tomas Antonio Mariño Blanco, a navy captain and commander of the Federal Territory of Amazonas military garrison, ordered the detention of two American engineers bearing identification cards from Westinghouse, a leading U.S. defense contractor, and General Dynamics...

... Jaime Bou, the New Tribes Mission head in Venezuela, intervened on behalf of the Americans. After staff members from the U.S. Embassy later joined Bou’s efforts, the two were released and the case was closed. However, Antonio Mariño reported that the missionary organization had been financed by General Dynamics, which had sent funds and pilots from California. According to Mariño’s investigation, New Tribes was also linked to a shadowy California foundation called District 1355... Antonio Mariño had determined that District 1355 had sought to acquire a concession in Colombia to cultivate rice and other crops, which it proposed flying out of the region in a fleet of C-141 planes.

annatopia.com/monkey/arch...01414.html

www.coha.org/NEW_PRESS_RE...rtson.html

Nothing much by doing a cursory search on "district 1355"
tinyurl.com/92yyh

.... This is typical for missionaries to indigenous peoples the world over... carrying out a hidden agenda for some high mucky-mucks somewhere. The Conquistadors arrived in the New World with priests... whose duty is was to convert AND enslave the people they found here. --MaryK

makes me so mad to know that every dime we give in charity actually enables the too-rich to escape their responsibility and blame, yet what ya gonna do when people are starving?

i admit to always having wondered whether i deserve a cookie or a good beating for contributing to Heiffer International.

have never dug into them. know they are christian-based. know i don't much care for them building a flash new headquarters.

but love the idea of the way the training and original resources they provide people, continue to grow and be passed along.

friends and family have been delighted with contributions made in their names, instead of getting christmas presents, btw.

more good than bad? that's what i've told myself in their case, but there has always been some nagging doubt.

Heifer?

Postby marykmusic » Sun Oct 16, 2005 3:20 pm

The Unity Church, where I was the music director for a while, had money collected by the children (candle sales at Christmas-time) sent to the Heifer program every year. I'm not aware of there being a problem there; enlighten me?

BTW, I have since decided that Unity was simply one of many New-Thought churches started by the same circle of people (included Mary Baker Eddy, of Christian Scientist fame), which were created as part of the movement to deny the existence of the Dark Side... the whole New Age movement succeeded in doing this. --Remember, this is MY opinion but also that of many other people.-- Newage-rhymes-with-sewage, as my brother Don says.

By denying its' existence, the Dark Side wins many battles by default. And in a battle of magicians, for one side not to realize it's a battle is for that side to lose. --MaryK

Not only your idea.... I'm thinking along similar lines and even studying various mutations of "original sin", not quite the rather simple and easily dismissed concept it appears, to me anyway.

I think the RA thread, the xxxexpose thread, leaves little doubt that one way or another evil is here with and even within us. Another reason why I like some of Paul Levy's ideas, especially when he turned the tables in his "Madness of George Bush" article.
www.serendipity.li/bush/madness.htm

Oddly enough I just heard about the Heifer program and as explained to me it sounded pretty good with the caveat that all social engineering leaves me feelin queasy.

just to be clear, my only (obviously slight since i haven't dug into them) concern about heifer int'l. is that since they are christian-based, along with good aid might go proselytizing i wouldn't support. don't have any reason to believe they do or don't do that. i don't think all christians are evil or anything, just aware of what harm gets done in the name of jesus too often.

i should give a link, eh?

www.heifer.org

This is pretty much what the activist we offered our place to last night described, seems on the up and up..... unless they are secretly looking for the "Red Heifer".... ok ok.. not funny given the atmosphere around here.
Have you ever looked into the UN Agenda 21 and the conspiracy theories about that? I did a little and have a link, mostly unread.

www.wealth4freedom.com/truth/11/21.htm
www.wealth4freedom.com/truth/11/21a.htm

You know if you can't proseletyze by example why bother. The Indians say they need loans for a generator maybe the New Tribes should just give them theirs. Yeah right.

This one? "We, however, believe otherwise, and we hope that when one puts all the pieces of this carefully structured puzzle together with the fact that visioning sessions are, and have been for some time now, going on in communities all across America and in other countries he will begin to see the invisible hand behind the scenes." ??

I just looked at the pretty picture.

Aren't they just taliking about stakeholders and stuff, not the real visioning thing?
Now I have to get into it.... but later.
