odd syntax

Postby anotherdrew » Sun Dec 11, 2005 2:12 am

"down my bag" seems like an odd construct. How old was he and did he have any kind of accent? Have you ever heard anyone say that before? It doesn't seem to me I've heard that phrase used, I can see it doesn't seem so very odd, but kinda unusual, like a code phrase, or something written in a manual...

I wonder if you'll be seeing more of this fellow, maybe he'll be around again.

odd googling sync?

Postby anotherdrew » Sun Dec 11, 2005 2:58 am

a search for " "going to down this" "
returns this as first link:

I almost got killed today :(
I was heading home, so that I could go change for work, I was going to down this road called Pyrmid highway, I was in the far left lane just cruzin going ...
forums.livingwithstyle.com/archive/index.php/t-40746.html - 12k - Supplemental Result - Cached - Similar pages

"going to down my bag" or "going to down this bag" both return nothing, which does seem to make it a rare phrase.

I don't want to encourage any paranoia but do you think you might have any medical records in that clinic he went to? and again, his aparent age? and did he have any accent?

No problem, sw. I guess that just proves I am paranoid for thinking that.

I know somebody

Postby maggrwaggr » Sun Dec 11, 2005 5:10 am

who went to jail because an acquaintenace stopped by his place and asked if he could leave a suitcase here for a few minutes. The guy thought nothing of it, and the next people to show up were the cops, with a search warrant. The suitcase was full of white powder, and the guy went to jail for something he was completely ignorant about.

He hasn't been the same since.

downing his "black bag

Postby firstimer » Mon Dec 12, 2005 3:37 am

Maybe he was downing his "black bag" so to speak. If you have registered as a whistleblower, he might have had something for you. That would explain the "moment". He wanted you to know that it meant more than it sounded. That would be a pretty cool guy, if that was his intention. Hell if it makes you feel better then just believe that. To me it is just as plausible.

I hate that it bothers you, and there isn't much you can do about that specific incident. Sometimes that kind of shit (that you can't bring up) happens to me. It usually repeats. Find a way to document it. If there was a witness, email them to lock in the date and throw in a reminder. You'd be amazed how effective 3 documented incidents will influence even the most cynical administration.

Maybe another job that gives you a different kind of thrill would be called for. The world is wide open, despite the walls you build to protect your core (as we all do)

firstimer

like firstimer says this could have been good or bad (or totally unrelated), no way to be sure, if he really wanted to leave you with data, he could have found a moment to say something clearly unless he was just very new at this, in which case he'll try again. If bad... well, I doubt it was, they could be very direct if that were it.
