Fearless... I equate that to my still having stage fright, after all these years of being a professional performer (mostly music, some group improv comedy, but now getting into storytelling.)

Numbers... I started as a street musician and in coffeehouses in 1969. Had terrible stage fright. My hands would tremble so much it was hard putting a strap on the guitar. But I wanted to play so I did it anyway.

Now... I'm a total wreck because I'm joining a small combo with a bunch of new charts. Lots of practice to learn them. Lots of fear/stage fright, after being hired on my credentials alone without auditioning or even meeting the new bandleader. But I'll be okay 'cause I trust my hands, once I start playing I know from experience that it will be fine.

Trust. Trust your experience, and in lieu of having that, trust your instincts.

Isn't there a book out, Feel the Fear and then Do it Anyway? Don't need to buy or read the book 'cause the title says it all. We don't necessarily get completely rid of that scary thought, but we don't let it immobilize us. --MaryK
