Welcome to March

Postby Gouda » Wed Mar 01, 2006 8:56 am

OK, over 1300 dead in Iraq this week as a result of provocateurs instigating and taking advantage of the chaos. The media-intelligence-thinktank complex's buzz for civil war is just growing louder (for our benefit, to un'ease us in). It is now the month of March 2006. Spring offensive time is right around the corner. Iran needs to be dealt with. Afghanistan is also slipping very quickly back into a drug-fueled, violent order. A tipping point over Hamas has been reached. One golden dome has been destroyed. 70% of US troops think they should pull out of Iraq by the end of the year. US Generals seem to be of split mind over all this. Resident Bush polling very low but does not care; and he has nothing to lose. Scandals galore knotting up Congress while they shift priority to re-election, money groveling, sealing deals with the corporate war complex. Paranoia over wiretapping (in US, Britain, Greece, at the UN). Lots of secret meetings with Turkey, a linchpin of power in the middle east, not least because she controls a whole lot of water (water? yes, seriously). Somehow the Greece vodaphone spying thing is related - when you say Turkey, i have to think of Greece, and the wider Balkans on the west, middle east on the east. Kosovo talks under way. Mladic pysops. Bolton has the UN tied up in absurdities and distractions.

Civil War in Iraq may just be/have been only part of what is/was being considered to reboot the middle east, (especially to get at Iran) providing needed, inescapable justification for escalating military intervention (and testing out those new tactical nukes).

Negroponte, master of disaster in Central America and Iraq has now spoken (a promise and a threat?):

news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060...e_congress

Quote:
Spy Chief: Iraq May Spark Regional Fight

WASHINGTON - A civil war in Iraq could lead to a broader conflict in the Middle East, pitting the region's rival Islamic sects against each other, National Intelligence Director John Negroponte said in an unusually frank assessment Tuesday.

"If chaos were to descend upon Iraq or the forces of democracy were to be defeated in that country ... this would have implications for the rest of the Middle East region and, indeed, the world..."

"The consequences for the people of Iraq would be catastrophic," he said. I won’t presume to know how each of us can most effectively work to prevent this potential perfect storm, but I am pretty sure that praying and meditating ought to be done after you’ve come home from a long day of creative, direct activism and/or awareness-raising. Fully employed? Do what you can on the job. Steal time, steal resources. Work locally, wherever you are. Join larger forces if you can. Then go home and meditate about what needs to be actively done tomorrow.

For example, Stan Goff. This may not work for everyone, but:

stangoff.com/?p=254

Quote:

Step One: Bury the corpse of the Democratic Party…It means undermining the Democrats in 2006 over the question of the war.

Step two is to massively and openly delegitimate, disobey, and disrupt the Republicans. I’m not talking metaphorically here. It means rebellion. It means taking on the exciting but very scary task of creating and sustaining a political crisis, like the Bolivians just did, that threatens to cause a government to fall...Like I said, I don’t know if enough people are up for this now...They will be eventually, because what we are watching right now is the rearrangement of the deck chairs on the Titanic. But some people love denial above all other things, because we are so afraid. Living stupid, alienated, well-fed, and entertained for a couple of generations will make you afraid.

Try this, from wherever you are:

stangoff.com/?p=258

Quote:
March 19, 2006 is the 3rd anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq.

Veterans for Peace, Iraq Veterans Against the War, Vietnam Veterans Against the War, Military Families Speak Out, Gold Star Families for Peace, and hurricane survivors’ organizations (SOS, PHRF, Common Ground, United Peace Relief, MS Immigrant Rights Alliance, and others) are organizing a five-day march along Gulf Coast Highway 90 to demand:

(1) the immediate return of our troops from Iraq, and to call for U.S. tax dollars to be spent on human priorities and
(2) rebuilding of the devastated Gulf Coast, under the democratic direction of the residents of the Gulf Coast, instead of the illegal occupation of Iraq.

HERE ARE FIVE THINGS YOU CAN DO TO HELP.

1. ENDORSE the march as an individual or organization. Click here and type in your information. If you have difficulty (the web site is not quite finished.), email your endorsement (name, occupation, location) to stan@stangoff.com.

2. SUPPORT the march. Click here and find how to DONATE financial support (donate button on page) or in-kind support. We still have a substantial amount to raise, so this is very important.

3. PUBLICIZE the march, by sending this along to as many individuals and lists as you can.

4. HOST events (house parties to public venues) to raise support for the march. Contact Iraq Veterans Against the War or Veterans For Peace to determine if there are vets available to speak at your event. Also contact The Empowerment Project to obtain a copy of “Soldiers Speak Out” (a 28-minute film featuring Iraq Veterans Against the War) to use in conjunction with your event.

5. IF YOU ARE A VETERAN, A MILITARY FAMILY MEMBER, OR A GULF COAST SURVIVOR, you are encouraged to JOIN part or all of THE MARCH. See details here.

"Ides of March Marked Murder of Julius Caesar"

It has fascinated scholars and writers ever since.

For ancient Romans living before that event, however, an ides was merely one of several common calendar terms (see sidebar) used to mark monthly lunar events.
There's a solar eclipse on the 29th:

Naked-eye planets set cosmic stage for solar eclipse on the March 29th
'AN INTERESTING month for sky-watchers begins with all the naked-eye planets on view at one time or another during the night and culminates with a solar eclipse. Orion is still resplendent in our southern sky at nightfall, but he marches smartly westwards, taking with him the other bright winter constellations....Of much greater interest is the solar eclipse on the 29th, which is total along a line that stretches from the coast of Brazil, across western and northern Africa and Turkey, to end in northern Mongolia. The longest spell of totality, when the Sun's brilliant disk is fully hidden by the Moon, is 4 minutes 7 seconds as seen from the Libyan desert, about 20 seconds longer than for the many observers who have chosen Turkey as their vantage point.'
news.scotsman.com/scitech...=298882006

Here's the track of the eclipse: It will be visible throughout most of Africa, the Middle East, Southern Europe and the Pipelinestans.
sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/ec...9-Fig2.GIF

Re: Ide(a)s of March

Postby Gouda » Wed Mar 01, 2006 1:48 pm

Got any ide(a)s for March? I am sure the eclipse will be captivating while Iranians are being nuked and new theatres in the Long War break out. Look, I am as fascinated as the next person about portending celestial conjunctures with terrestrial events, but this is serious - what can we do besides levitating the yields of our Maharishi Global Financing "World Peace Bonds for Poverty Removal"? Study of omens and numbers and history should inform us and does arm us to an extent, it keeps us on edge, but since I am esoterically challenged, I have to rely on other analyses also. So, I guess I am looking for well-rounded pre-emption here.

Edited by: Gouda at: 3/1/06 10:49 am

Ides of March

Postby Connut » Wed Mar 01, 2006 2:03 pm

I posted this on another thread, and I still think it's worth looking at as it relates to the cosmic center and a blast that has occurred in the past and may occur again. The author of this piece seems to have researched it pretty thoroughly, and as he says - better to let folks know and be found a fool than to keep it to himself and have it happen to others with no warning.

But still an interesting look at what may be happening celestially, and the historical backstory:

users.gloryroad.net/~bigjim/hendaye.htm

Just another piece of information about the Ides of March! Cheers, Connut
