On the 7-18-05 broadcast of Radio Orbit, the host, Mike Hagan, reads part of an interview with a guy who hacked into the NASA computers when he was 17. Kagan read part of an interview with the hacker where he said that he had found out about a US Navy team of "non-terrestial officers" who seemed to be stationed permanently in space. I found this intriguing. The host though, did not mention the hackers name, or the interview link, so I spent some time searching...

I found a number of "17 year olds" who have hacked into NASA and/or DOD networks in recent years. I found this little tidbit from a 2001 PBS Frontline interview with a different juvenille hacker where the 16 year old says,
link

A lot of attention was given to the fact that you downloaded software relating to the international space station. Could you have done anything with that?

No. It was for the environmental control program. Who wants that-- you can play with the air conditioner, or what? . . . The code itself was crappy . . . certainly not worth $1.7 million like they claimed.

Seems the kid was unaware at the time of all the clandestine activities in the skies these days...

In any case, I finally found the original interview...It is fascinating. Here's a snip...

"What was the most exciting thing you saw?" I ask.

"I found a list of officers' names," he claims, "under the heading 'Non-Terrestrial Officers'."

"Non-Terrestrial Officers?" I say.

"Yeah, I looked it up," says Gary, "and it's nowhere. It doesn't mean little green men. What I think it means is not earth-based. I found a list of 'fleet-to-fleet transfers', and a list of ship names. I looked them up. They weren't US navy ships. What I saw made me believe they have some kind of spaceship, off-planet."

"The Americans have a secret spaceship?" I ask.

"That's what this trickle of evidence has led me to believe."

"Some kind of other Mir that nobody knows about?"

"I guess so," says Gary.

"What were the ship names?"

"I can't remember," says Gary. Not to mention the Russian hurricanes, Katrina and Ophelia, and the timing of our guys joining the Russians at the international space station Aug. 17th.

Getting back to the Radio Orbit bit, I finally found the interview Mike Kagan was quoting from.. A Guardian article.

I was especially interested in the blurb quoted above. It seems obvious the young hacker himself did not fully comprehend the immense possibilities in this specific field.

Like I said in another thread, I am relatively new to this board. This is a topic and subject that I would suspect has been discussed at length here at RI. I wouldn't be surprised if Jeff had written specifically about this a while back and I missed it.

Any links of interest to pass on ?

Here's one from Pravda that you might find interesting...

english.pravda.ru/accidents/21/97/384/11761_weapons.html
