Emotional Emphasis

slim,
I use coarse and violent language about these people because I'm trying to break their spell.

We are in a collective trance. We cannot see what they are doing. We cannot see what is before our eyes. They are controlling our minds.

I want to shatter that.

The ONLY thing that works with these people is violence, either of the physical OR literal variety.

It's not bitterness or hatred. If these people were gone tomorrow I would forget about them. I wouldn't waste any energy on them.

It'a about redefining the terms of combat.
IMHO

Globalisation

Postby Darklo » Tue Mar 07, 2006 1:56 pm

Fact is that humans might think they aspire to goodness and everything is really nice, but the fact is that we arent like that.

We evolved from predatorial creatures operating in small societies with limited capability for communication, coercion and destruction.

With technology we have evolved the capabilities that lead to mass propaganda, genocide and destruction of the entire ecosphere.

But our phsycology has not evolved to use these new tools in a way that makes sense for society as a whole. We are kind of grappling with it right now, and we are witnessing a major event in human development.

Globalisation will either end in sucess, partial setback for humand development or our complete destruction.

Personall, I think it will be a partial sucess, then it will work out. The human spirit is incredible, and I get bored with morons moaning about the end of times and their complete lack of resepct for the human race.

Edited by: Darklo at: 3/7/06 11:03 am

Re: What Im saying

Sepka, I really like this:

"If we have failed to build that desired world, it is because we have failed to be the sort of people by whom such a world could be built."

Well put. I'd like to add that the "sort of people" we need to be, might have the following characteristics:

Smart, and with the wisdom of experience;
People of integrity;
Rational & difficult to manipulate;
Alert & well-informed;
Tolerant & willing to consider others' points of view;
Compassionate and capable of healthy, respectful, loving relationships;
Fair and just.

Can you imagine what a wonderful world such people would build?

Can you imagine a more worthy goal than to aspire to be such a person, and purely by example, to inspire others to do the same?

As for thumperton's contribution:

"if human nature is the problem, perhaps we need to stop looking at human ideals such as man made 'democracy' or other contrivances to govern us and look somewhere higher?"

You know, thumper, that really rang a bell...I kept trying to remember where I'd heard identical statements before. And then, I did! I believe it was just the other day, when I was listening to extracts from one of Ayman al Zawahri's taped messages. But then again, it's not like al Zawahri invented that little bit of wisdom; it's de rigueur in pretty much ANY speech by religious fanatics of all kinds...

In any case, there's no need to be coy. Why don't you just come out and tell us where you want us to look, and what you want us to see. I suppose the lines of communication between the "higher" place and this vale of tears go right through you, do they? Or maybe you are merely preparing the way for One Whose hem you are not fit to touch, is that it? I'll bet he (and it MUST be a he) must be someone just like you...that annoying little air of superiority wouldn't be there unless you were pretty convinced you will be sitting right on Jesus' lap while the rest of us are suffering the torments of the damned on Judgement Day.

Democracy, "other contrivances" (like what, human rights conventions, child protection laws, anti-trust legislation, rules against conflict of interest, against discrimination, a free press, the right to habeas corpus, the right to be legally innocent until proven guilty, environmental protections, seatbelt safety laws? What?)

Sigh. I guess you're right. We don't need such earthly human contrivances, when we could just relax and let the likes of you keep us posted on what The Big Boss wants us to do, ok? Duh!
