America's Shadow Sovereign

Forget the Boy King.

It's the Shadow Sovereign.

Quote:
Traditionally, the Vice President-Elect takes office just before the President-Elect. Usually the Vice Prez is a figurehead at best. Dan Quayle could barely speak in whole sentences, for example, and mostly attended state funerals and sat next to the Queen at dinner.

FDR changed veeps during his administration.

The other Roosevelt was put in the #2 slot to keep him out of the way, as he was becoming rather popular. Unfortunately, in the eyes of those handlers, the Curse of Tecumseh was working... shown by the death of the elected President of 1900. (It must not have worked in 2000 because we didn't HAVE an elected President.) --MaryK

Also remember that in the original Constitution, the VP was actually the loser of the election. So, if we were still doing things like in the days of Jefferson and company, our VP would be John Kerry.

Pretty interesting when you stop and think of what past administrations would have been like:

JFK's VP would have been Nixon.
Reagan's VPs would have been Jimmy Carter and Walter Mondale
Bush Sr.'s VP would have been Mike Dukakis
Clinton's VPs would have been Bush Sr and Bob Dole
Bush's VPs would have been Al Gore and John Kerry.

I'm bumping this because of SLAD's post BUSH AT CENTER...

From the end of that post

Quote:
President Bush signed an executive order in March 2003 authorizing Cheney to declassify certain intelligence documents. The executive order was signed on March 23, 2003, four days after the start of the Iraq war, and two weeks after Wilson first appeared on the administration's radar.

The point is that Bush CANNOT DO THAT.
In terms of law he is acting ultra-vires.
He is acting beyond his powers.

The reason is simple.
Presidential powers are constrained by the Presidential Oath, sworn to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

Bush cannot simply delegate such powers to an another individual. It makes a complete mockery of the Oath.

The Executive Order, by definition, is invalid.

The point I would like to emphasise is this.
They are working to a formula.
A formula perfected in the United Kingdom from 1990 to 2000.

The Queen delegates her "royal prerogative" powers to the Prime Minister, right?
But what if she acts ultra-vires?
What if she does not actually appoint the man that everybody ASSUMES is prime minister?

Because of that assumption, everyone will obey the "Prime Minister" and his orders. Even though they have NO LEGAL FOUNDATION.

If anything goes wrong, he can be disowned.
THERE IS NO LEGAL COMEBACK ON THE WINDSOR FAMILY.
Just as there is no legal comeback on Cheney in the present case.

He "thought" he was obeying the legal orders of the President.
He "made a mistake".
Surely you cannot hang a man for making a mistake?

Where the fuck are the honest, patriotic lawyers in your country?
When the fuck will you Yanks wake up?

ALL THIS SHIT IS COMING FROM BRITAIN
