In short, they're blaming the mayor, the police, communist/anarchist counter-demonstators, and especially the "ni----s." The NSM's role was apparently mainly to make themselves noticed in someone else's neighborhood, with their brown shirts, swastika armbands, giving the straight-arm salute. They make a big deal of how legal and above-board their activities are, while at the same time openly celebrating what a smashing success the whole thing was. Also, White says that they had support within the Toledo establishment. <br><br>Unfortunately, the local gangs apparently took the bait, and it also appears that the leftist group "Anti-Racist Action" (ARA) was doing some inciting of their own. Whether they had some kind of sinister agenda or were just as they appear, anti-racist direct-action types, I dunno. <p></p><i></i>
