I saw <a href="http://dailykos.com/story/2005/7/1/134912/3377">this DailyKos</a> post today, and raised an eyebrow. This seems far less true for most of Europe, where covert police probably play a supporting role in working on-behalf of many of the same banking/resource/military interests that are the neocon's leading clients. There is a story on Spanish teletext today. A rough translation "US military commanders have told the Spanish Ministry of Defence of their immediate intention to retire special forces from the base at Rota. The pentagon announcement refers to a unit which specialises in clandestine commando operations". Put this, together with the arrest warrant put out by the Italian judge against the CIA, alongside the theme of this thread. Something REALLY BIG has been uncovered in Italy, and the Americans are pulling out just the people that could be responsible.

The Constantinians were recently written about in the London Evening Standard magazine in connection to their powerful communications network said to rival that of Opus Dei. Some allegations about them having members in NATO military intelligence and in interpol. From memory, the Constantinians (who have a rival Spanish branch, now disenfranchised) were officially banned from operating in the UK following the collapse of Banco Ambrosiano in '82 and the death of 'God's Banjer' Roberto Calvi. Only after Thatcher got kicked out of office in October '90 did they slime they way back into the UK. Just a thought......

Maybe some connection??? WaPo's Bernstein wrote on 3rd May this year that Edward von Kloberg committed 'suicide' in Rome by leaping out of a castle. Other commentators reporting said that a magazine with George W Bush's picture on the cover was found on him. The shadowy group appears to have set itself up as a private security firm, offering protection to senior figures, and illicitly using official police resources.
