Ken Wilber & Conspiracy Theory

Postby timboucher » Mon Jul 25, 2005 1:45 pm

I recently put together an "integral approach to conspiracy theory" based on Ken Wilber's "All-Quadrant, All-Level" theory of everything.

It's kind of funny, but it actually raised some useful points that I'd never really considered before applying his model (even though I don't 100% buy into his system). If you want to check it out, here's the link:

www.timboucher.com/journa...cy-theory/

talking about wilber...

More New age honeypots. When will we wake up?
I am noticing this "color-coding" scheme meme everywhere, and I notice that Wilber ws one of the first new-agers to use it alot too, as far as I know. (So does pentagon-sponsored Lovins/Hawken in Natural Capitalism). The biggest problem I have with this is the definitions (reds, blues, greens, whites) seem simplistic, reductive, and in some crucial ways, dead wrong. It's also worth noting that the "whites" are always depicted as the smartest. Plus if you actually read Theory of Everything it's full chock-full of nwo-globalising lies to say the least.
"Milosevic has taken the blue ancient nation of Serbia and unleashed red-tribal ethnic clensing, rape, and tortur. Sensitive-green liberals Bill Clinton and Tony Blair have intervened in an attempt to protect human rights, an attempt that has fallen on deaf ears in the blue ancient nations of Russia, China, and Iran, who both consider Clinton and Blair to be the real war criminals ."
This from "One of the most creative spiritual thinkers alive today.."?!
If that doesn't show him to be an absolute fool-tool, at the very least...
and I could continue..

Oh, I couldn't agree more, don't worry. I just wrote a piece on Ken Wilber and the NWO, plus an 7 part analysis of his ideas, the good and bad. I think a lot of his ideas are reductionist in a way that's really irritating as shit. And there's an extreme tendency to get caught up in the map, rather than the actual reality. That said, I do find it a worthwhile exercise to take his system and apply it in such a way as he probably wouldn't appreciate too much. Or maybe he would, who knows.

Anyway, take or leave the application of it all to conspiracy theory...

interesting to look at it this way,if i where to use your terminology i see the main problem that occurs once people "take the pill" and accept conspiracy theory is that what they throw out first is empirical evidence instead of throwing out their own cultural meaning and they then project this onto "the other" using fautly motivation and intuition.
Empathy is key in my eyes and the ruthless attack on ones own cultural meaning using empirical evidence. Then one can start to attempt to look warily at the other exterior with the reminder that complex systems are going to make your head hurt..
So my vote is for Empathy & Empirical Evidence
