a nice little introduction to the 'ideas' of Leo Strauss

Stone famously observed, but some governments lie more than others. And the neocon Bush regime serves up whoppers as standard fare every day. Why this propensity to lie? There are many reasons, but it is not widely appreciated that the neocons believe in lying on principle. It is the "noble" thing for the elite to do, for the "vulgar" masses, the "herd" will become ungovernable without such lies.

'This is the idea of the "noble lie" practiced with such success and boldness by Scooter Libby and his co-conspirators and concocted by the political "philosopher" Leo Strauss whose teachings lie at the core of the neoconservative outlook and agenda' ...

e mail from Karl B. Schwarz who had linked Libby to Liddy last wk ..Kalr is aginst the current power regimes of the bushies and neo-cons and is planning to run for Pres in 2008.

He is also well informed of the NWO.

"It is a good sign that most people caught the metaphor I used with the names LIDDY and LIBBY, but most did not suspect my reason for doing so. Well, today you will learn why I used that simple metaphor and connected the two men. They are indeed connected, if only by circumstance.

Most refreshing was that over ninety per cent of readers not only caught it, but then responded to me and pointed out that G. Gordon Liddy and Lewis “Scooter” Libby are not related by blood. My linking of these two was a metaphor insofar as each man thinks that doing wrong for the office of the President of the United States is good and honorable. That their names are so similar is only a coincidence, but worthy of note. One believed that doing wrong for Richard Nixon was the right thing to do, while the other apparently believing that doing wrong for George W. Bush was the right thing to do. G. Gordon Liddy, the older of the two, is a former intelligence agent and military man who believed that Richard Nixon could do no wrong and that anything was permissible to keep him in power. I. Lewis Libby, a “never put his life on the line” PNAC co-founder, also apparently believes that any means, however devious, justifies the end. He is a student of Wolfowitz and a Straussian Troskyite rather than a true conservative. With Libby the game is about empowerment of the Neocons, the Likudists, and the Troskyites who have a world vision that I believe 99.999% of all Americans reject or would reject if they knew the truth of the matter. Libby's loyalties might lie more with Israel than the United States, just as they appear to lie with Richard Perle, Paul Wolfowitz, Douglas Feith, and a host of other Neocons whom George W. Bush has appointed to key administration positions."

www.karlschwarz2008.com/

Leo Strauss is talked about in the amazing BBC documentary "The Power of Nightmares" by Adam Curtis which gives a lot of history and background regarding the neocons' philosophy -- and the film completely debunks the idea of Al Qaeda being a huge international terrorist organization.

The documentary was aired about a year ago in 3 one-hour parts. It was later edited into a 2-hour film for showing at Cannes. If you haven't seen it, go to the trouble to download it using a BitTorrent client (I like BitLord).

The Power of Nightmares

You may need to sign up at UKNova.com but it's free and there are lots of other amazing documentaries and programs available.

you're welcome trachys -- I think you'll enjoy Power of Nightmares -- it's eye-opening as well as artistically inspired.

I haven't seen Century of the Self, but I've heard that all of Adam Curtis's work is excellent. I did download Pandora's Box and have started watching it -- it's in 6 parts. Same wonderful style and artistry, and very enlightening.

I will say that even though I loved The Power of Nightmares, I was just a little disappointed that Curtis wasn't a bit more forthcoming about 9/11 being an inside job -- but, it's implied of course since he's making a very strong case about Al Qaeda being very small and unorganized (hence, not able to pull off such a hugely complex plan).
