sw, sounds like he might have left without the bag had you not brought it to him. Perhaps... perhaps this was a "test" to see how you would react, OR perhaps this guy meant to leave the bag with you, perhaps it was full of documents he wanted to get out? My feeling though is you did exactly the best thing possible in that situation.

or something in the bag might have set you up had it been found in your possession. But it seems he wanted you to know it was there.

And I think you did the right thing to bring it to where the other people were. Would have been interesting if you had walked over to them and then opened the bag to "see if it had identifying papers in it, because you had no idea who had left it behind and wanted to return it to the rightful owner..."

I keep thinking of "Pulp Fiction"... What's in the case?

If this event isn't face value nothing, then consider this.

This event might have been a means of seeing what you write here in response to the provided stimuli to see what you will post online for security purposes.

Perhaps there was material in the bag to ensnare you if you looked and posted about it here.

I agree it doesn't sound normal but not much does to me either, lately.

softball

Postby firstimer » Sat Dec 10, 2005 11:31 pm

SW,

And if you did open it up, what the hell was in it? I have had many a person leave their bag, (usually a vendor or consultant) They always ask, because that is the polite thing. If he wasn't polite, what reason could he have for being so rude to you. Are you (like me) at the bottom of the food chain?

I'm thinking, what kind of impression is he making on the other "managers" by treating their employee like that. Is that SOP for ATF?, CIA? I think not , if your managers were there why didn't they react? Usually somebody will try to smooth things over to prevent a "misunderstanding? It isn't out of line to go to a manager and ask why this fucker left his dubious bag with you when he could have taken it with him. That in itself is a security risk since you have no way of knowing the legitimacy of that bag even though they went through inspection with it.

I would have said, I'm going on my break and can't watch your bag, perhaps you should take it with you.

It can't be a burden if it is as small as you say.

The situation feels pretty unreal unless you work in a really shitty job. I'm sorry to be the one to say that, but everybody was playing softball and I'm no Jeff Gannon.

No offense, but if we are dancing for you that's pretty uncool, there are alot of other things to figure out here. You seem like a nice guy so I hope I'm wrong.

Firstimer

Gender Bending

Postby Floyd Smoots » Sat Dec 10, 2005 11:59 pm

firstimer, no offense 'cause you ain't been around a lot of the threads, but sw's a gal. 'N' what's with the "dancing for you" deal? Do you think she's jerking us around? Anything's possible in this whacked-out world, but I tend to belive that she's being straight with us. To quote the often over-lauded Dennis Miller, "But that's just my opinion. I could be wrong." So say on, new brother, say on!

Woah Nellie...

Postby firstimer » Sun Dec 11, 2005 1:43 am

Hey wait a minute, I was being honest and direct. I have no intention of offending anybody, but sometimes it takes a push to get to the bottom of something. There wasn't enough info there to make a real assessment. Also, I don't know why it makes a difference female or not BTW. SW I don't know your backstory, but its beginning to sound like you have suffered alot. I have never been in combat or military, yet since 9/11 my life perspective has changed so much. I do feel paranoid sometimes like you. And possibly for good reason. My problem is that I always try to get to the bottom of things, and there may be some things that should be left alone.

I'm aware that most don't know me here, but my intentions are sincere. When I said I hope it isn't true, I meant it. If anybody is going to figure anything out around here, there has to be some critical thinking. The internet is full of people going around looking for attention, (maybe me too) Its important for me to suss that out before getting involved. I get very little time on the internet due to family and work responsibilities, but it is the only place that I can come to find the truth.

I think its great to have the perspective of the ATF here, but the behavior of that CIA guy begs an inquiry with your superiors. If you don't feel comfortable doing that its their fault. I still don't understand, was he sick or not? Also doesn't anybody else wonder why he had to leave the bag ?

As for those looking out for SW, thats honorable and she seems to get positive energy from it. Keep it up, but don't worry here, I'm just hyper-inquisitive.

firstimer
