Re: the disease is cynicism

This was just a matter of how much time/money it will take to settle this unpleasantness.
ONly the Israelis will be able to stop their generals. AS I said, I witness a lot of expended energy/anger which leads no where, except to more frustration. I am starting to think that some people behind those "anti Israel" stuff, are knowingly doing protest to extort, not to transform. namely, if you want to get something for yourself, the best way to achieve it is 'corner' an Israeli general. this is similar to the kidnappings going on in Iraq. it has become mafia snatching, not a genuine attempt to transform, bring peace etc. I have noticed the iraqis are kidnapping peace delegates, who later turn out to be spies (they seem to know who they are snatching there, its not random). So, if all those "peace/human rights activists from "left wing" european journals, or "north american christian orgs", are in fact spies...what's the point in all of this ?

Yes, I am becoming dissilusioned. "the good guys" sort of, turn out to be the same as the "bad guys", its just business, where words lose meaning. Perhaps this is what happened to Israel, too. Cynicism. This is the virus.

antiar, you'll say I am naive, but I am learning...

Certainly is, havanagila.

Or, to put it another way, there are war criminals, and there are war criminals.....

Yard reopens inquiry into former Nazi soldiers still alive in Britain

Quote:
Andrew Dismore, Labour MP for Hendon, who has been pressing for action against surviving war criminals, said the Yard deserves extra funding for the inquiry. Antiaristo said,
"Israeli war criminals are good guys - BY LAW"

That was EXACTLY what I was thinking just before I read your comment -- instead of taking the teeth out of the law re: eliminating citizen's ability to initiate a legal charge through local or state channels, why not just grant all Israelis an open-ended irrevocable blanket war crimes exemption? (And to be fair, extend this courtesy to Americans -- with reciprocity among all three nations).

Large public posters, newspaper ads, neighborhood flyers and perhaps even paid magazine 'public service announcements' can make sure that the British citizenry are made well-informed (and consistently reminded) that Israeli citizens shall be specifically exempt from charges of warcrimes and related International Law prohibitions and Nuremberg and Geneva conventions -- just so no one can be ignorant of law and perhaps unwittingly provoke a national incident (ie, embarrassment).

In either case, the proposed action will likely further antagonize and provoke outraged disgust by those aware of hypocritical double standards that shield awful crimes by the world's most reckless, violent states -- as well it should.

Starman

Re: UK curbing citizens' right to arrest alleged war crimina

Yes, indeed Starman.
The right to make a citizen's arrest is a common law right going back centuries. And as the Act of Settlement says "the laws of England are the birthright of the people thereof".

Where do you think you got your process of impeachment, or your grand jury? They come from England. We had grand juries until the 1930s. Now we have the CROWN PROSECUTION SERVICE. I would call it a joke but it is just too tragic for that. Those clowns will make the decisions about de Menezes. They made the decisions about Archer. They are the ones who put poor Barry George behind bars for a crime comitted by Lord and Lady Archer.

What you are seeing here is yet another power grab by the Windsor Dictatorship. She is using the Treason Felony Act to steal away yet another of our rights, the right to make a citizens arrest.

I cannot stress enough. This nightmare will end when the Treason Felony Act is nullified.
