Thanks for the comments guys.

David Icke appears to be anything from a CIA disinformation agent ( gotta love that one ) - To just plain nuts - unlike Bush no doubt

I have to say I liked KMs comments best personally.

I feel its important to make ones own mind up ultimately, and rely upon no particular person too much.

"Let all men count with you, but none too much"

All that said, probably the reason I respect Icke as much as I have come to do, is that he is one of the few people who threw in a Top career as a lead presenter for the BBC because of what he felt was right.

He has suffered more indignant ridicule than anyone since the round earthers.

And yet hes stood proud throughout it all.

A recent appearance on the Wogan show kinda summed that kind of ignorance up for me.

Terry Wogan, one of the Beebs (BBC ) favourite darlings was asking him about what brought him to think how he did in his 'conspiratorial' fashion.

Icke just said to him ;

"Tell me Terry, have you ever read the PNAC papers ? Needlessly complicating things

Postby El Tedo » Sat Jul 15, 2006 6:57 pm

Slim,

Sensible people are needed to break news that seems otherwise outlandish. You could convince 10 people that 9/11 was an inside job by telling them the planes were holograms piloted by lizards, OR you could tell people about PNAC (a real document anyone can read) which literally telegraphs the whole premise of 9/11 and convince 100,000 people. Which scenario does more good?

As for your question, you gave me YOUR right answer in your question: Everything is Energy. If that is what you believe then, obviously I'm missing out on a great deal of information. I'm sorry that I can't see everything in the universe at once. What that has to do with calling Icke out on obvious "lies" (or his delusions), maybe you can tell me.

My five sense are more than enough to determine that Icke is a cynical entrepreneur who peddles non-sense for ENTERTAINMENT purposes.

To flip it around, when George Bush says he wants to bring "freedom to Iraq" I know its lie, because all available evidence points to the contrary. But if we follow your logic, I just can't trust my senses, and George is telling the truth if I so desire that he's telling the truth.

Re: Wogan Interview

Postby thurnandtaxis » Sat Jul 15, 2006 7:11 pm

FWIW, here's the the interview clip, Icke seems to be put on the defensive consistantly. No mention of Lizards from either side though:

youtube.com/watch?v=2OSmd...vid%20icke

Its hard enough to have a discussion about political cabals, but when one attempts to look into the far murkier world of occult philosophies it seems that only speculatory evidence can be produced based on the written doctrines of various competing sects.

At such a level it all comes down to an ideological discourse that few people outside of initated groups can speak upon. And certainly all
such doctrine will appear as meaningless jargon to the profane. The path to absolute knowledege of magical systems seems well guarded with ontological traps and semiotic reversals. But a carefull examination certainly can not be arrived at if ridicule is to be allowed as an acceptible form of contribution to the debate.

That being said, from some of his past statements it appears that Icke has been misled by many of his (New Age?) sources. Though whom in this field can we not say has encountered some level of compromise in their findings due to the very nature of secrecy and disinformation regarding occult or even mere "deep political" subject matter? Can any of us name "impeccable" sources? Brussel? Quigely? Jones? Skolnick? Marrs? Garrison? Judge? LaRouche? Krassner? Wilson? Ruppert? Casalaro? Webb? Sutton? etc. etc. We may have individual favorites, but how can we truly discern among them? Perhaps by isolating commonalities. But how many of even these may not turn out to be blind alleys? At what point has the disease been fully diagnosed and not just its symptoms?

I suppose that the reason I find this board so attractive is that many avenues of discussion are pursued and debated with nearly nothing being considered absolutely preposterous by an overwhelming concensus.

However, uncertainty, the dilemma which has predicated the formation of the post-modern condition, is not in itself an ineffective method of control.

Edited by: thurnandtaxis at: 7/15/06 5:26 pm

The flat earth society page is a parody. The "science" sounds really impressive...unless you know anything about science. Then it's actually pretty funny.

Quote:

After spending over sixteen million dollars and using over 48 thousand yards of industrial strength strapping tape, we of the Flat Earth Society were able to construct an enormously powerful neurotransmitter that can implant suggestions directly into the brains of the nearby non-Flat Earthers. Having set it up just outside of the Russian Antarctic exploration post (Vostok), we are awaiting word that all three scientists and 174 penguins have been shown the light.
