Logic, illogic

Postby yathrib » Fri Aug 04, 2006 11:19 am

You may recall the article that was posted some weeks ago w/ the title "Bush and Cheney: The Hippie Kings" (I think). One of the most interesting points there was that once the left lost the will or ability to evaluate and reject the illogic and absurdity spouted by those on the left or allied to to it, it was only a matter of time before it lost the ability to combat the illogical and counterfactual statements of the Coulters, the Limbaughs, and so on... I think that's what they were saying, anyway.

Osculum -

Where is your rigor?

the psychotic adherence to pushing "my sexuality" as right over yours

The only folks I see doing the pushing are the Christianists and/or homophobes (yes, Ill get to that in a minute). I just want to be left alone to have a personal intimate relationship with the person I chose. I would imagine that probably is your (and most folks') view on things. I just happen to feel attraction to someone of the same sex. I surely dont think "my sexuality" is better, nor should it be pushed on anyone.

look at the aura of the unhappy, fragmented and confused gay.

AURA?! what is this? Next, youll say "look at the moody bitchiness of women", or "look at the uppittiness of that nigger" or "see the shiftiness of the jew". This line is not rooted in fact, which brings us to my last point:

Caveat: I am not homophobic, so don't bother accussing.

I dont need to; your words did it for you.

Look all the problems of the world including Bush and Cheney are so obviously the fault of Lesbians.

I mean if Barbara was one then we wouldn't be in this mess so it must be their fault.

Paz, I once came across a website run by fundie nuts who claimed that Lesbians were being trained to be the executioners of the NWO.

They claimed that it started with vet surgeries, and the idea of "putting things down for their good". Cos they were in pain. The site claimed that all lezzos are perfect for this cos they have deliberately given up their mothering instincts and will therefore fail to recognise the fundamental inhumanity they are showing when they start executing Christians to put them out of their own pain.

I can just tell you are exactly the sort of person they are talking about.

Seriously tho ... after hassling someone else out about something recently I have to ask you this:

Do you think that perhaps anti semetic views and homophobic views and blatently racist views are often associated with concepts to discredit them. IE someone comes out with some info, then suddenly that info is drowned in a puddle of obviously ridiculous crap like the lesbian exectutioners meme I mentioned above?

That trend seems to coming across more and more I have noticed. Even that Paedophile church turd on the main blog, that guy claims a connection to drumming pothead blokes, tyhe drumming pothead blokes I know all SEEM to be completely anti paedophilia.

Most ordinary people I have come across don't like the idea of anti semetism or homophobia (tho sexuality issues still provoke a few uncomfortable jokes). Blatent homophobia and anti semetism tend to cause a sort of shut down, any other ideas that are linked to those two things become automatically discredited.

I mean what would your reaction be, Paz, if you came across a piece of info that seemed to say implicate Cheney directly in 911, (something obvious and generic to us already maybe), but say this was a specific piece of info. How would you take it after reading that it was part of a plan to install lesbians as executioners for everyone represtenting "wholesale american values".

I am being serious about this re your opinion - this is not some guarded way of having a go at you or who you choose to do whatever with. I could't care less about that.

This site claimed not to be racist, it just claimed all races should not mix, and that it was probably Gods will to destroy the mongrels.

Thats it for that site as far as I can remember. I also remember having a discussion where someone claimed that the bible says all mongrels are an affront to "G_d".

Now whatever ideas that person had that i may have considered are long gone from my mind. That was a bit of a personal insult to me. Especially when they said " sorry its not me saying it its the bible."

As I said before I don't care what people do to who (within some obvious limits) - but if we are gonna talk about homosexuality...

Most of my experience with people who are gay or are not hetro or whatever you want to call them has been through partying or activism. If we are gonna generalise I would say all gay people are funloving considerant tolerant of everything except intolerence and some of them have a tendency to get in your face about about their sexuality, but i guess some gay people feel hetro culture is in their face about hetro culture and sexuality all the time, and i certainly don't notice that. But then its my culture, fish probably don't notice water. (Till its gone).

Furthermore gay people are overrepresented in the development of our culture. There might be an arguement that homosexuality is actually good for culture because of the way gay people have contributed to the development of humanity.

I don't really care. People are people.

But in my experience gay people are more likely to be on the cutting edge of thought than straight people. I guess that may be an advantage to dealing with discrimination, its a kind of natural selection thing for the people dealing with discrimination. You have to think more and more creativly, and you are more open to other ideas considered "wrong" or "unworthy' by mainstream culture, cos thats what they think about you.

Thats part of how my ideas have formed, though sexual and racial discrimination are different things they come from the same place.

Thats why i find the mainstream Christian right and those homophobic conspiracy peddlers to be an interesting mix.

Remember me mentioning my experience of Opus Dei was as a reactionary anti sex force. well thats the impression I was trying to convey about them anyway.

Did you see Andrew Denton interview Ben Elton?

I have a feeling they are both jewish, by descent, not necessarily religiously... could be wrong, and its kind of irrelevent, because they are definitely anti "anti semeticism".

Ok at some point Denton made a smart arse comment that Elton agreed with:

"I flew the plane into the Pentagon cos the CIA told me too."

They were dispariging conspiracy theory (BTW ELton wrote among other things Stark and This Other Eden, which are so deeply indebted to what I consider intelligent conspiracy theory they rely on it to sustain their plots).

Both these people are "liberal" and left leaning. certainly no fans of the slaughter in Iraq (unless I have missed somethiing).

I was atonished to hear denton make that remark. It has changed my opinion of him. But he could have fallen for an association psyop bomb thingee.

Thats what I am wondering now. Hence my question.

It seems Denton and Elton are writing off any 911 conspiracy theory because its conspiracy theory, despite the fact that the official story is as far out a conspiracy as any. And one of the first responses to 911 was "Its Mossad", in conspiracy circles. if I was Jewish this would automatically set up a bias in my thinking I reckon. To many bad memories down that path to let anyone go there and get away with it.

But if i wasn't Jewish and was only exposed to conspiracy theories regarding 911 via most "obvious" places I'd be sus. In fact if I wasn't into the whole thing before the net I'd be sus. Cos until you get deep enough into it to find places that serious consideration occurs its always Jews run the world, and they do it for the Nazis and bush was a nazi thats why he works with israel and the greys to harvest our dna.

Thats why they promote homosexuality and liberalism and democracy - to destroy freedom. So they bring in the one world government to give us all the mark of the beast, so we don't get raptured.

This is part of the way any deep analysis of the conspiracy worldview gets discredited.

What I dont get is how could the mark of the beast, a barcode or chip on our hand supposedly, hinder a rapture? Dude if they have the power to rapture us, how could a little piddly microchip or tattoo stop them from that?

Well, who has any respect for Ben Elton left these days? Amazing to contrast his controversal, Thatcher-baiting comedy of the 80's with his career in recent years writing musicals about Queen, and singing the praises of Marks & Spencers food hall... basically he got old and middle-class!

Take a hectare or acre of productive soil. Dunno which ones?

they are always saying this crap about food production but 1 hectare of monoculture provides some needs for 40 people.

You can't provide all the food you need off a hectare using "modern" farming techniques. You can just drag more out of higher yielding monocultures, using massive input of resources.

but essentially you are right. Who will die off? well people in cities for a start.
