"London remained a major base for OSS, containing the largest number of personnel outside the United States. R and A and X-2 were particularly active, and SI (espionage) and SO operations continued to be launched from the airfield at Harrington. London also provided the headquarters for OSS operations in Scandinavia. Donovan met with branch chiefs and reviewed these operations, especially the efforts to supply the Resistance forces in northern Norway. The British had not cooperated fully in this activity, refusing to allocate RAF aircraft manned by Norwegian pilots. In late March the use of American aircraft with inexperienced pilots had resulted in a disastrous drop in Norway of a group headed by Lt. William Colby, years later Director of Central Intelligence. Crap, I can't believe how may times I have had to log in the last couple of days.

Ok, I posted this on page 2 of this discussion:

Again, not sure of the source:

theuniversalseduction.com...stitutions

"....
Another person, Greer claims, that was part of the control group was William Colby, the former CIA director who was deeply involved in setting up the European Stay-Behind networks. Colby's role in Vietnam has been questioned due to his role in Project Phoenix and the Nugan Hand Bank (He was an attorney of this bank that is suspected of having been a world wide heroin money laundering center, revolving around Ted Shackley's secret team. One of Shackley's best friends was Conrad Gerber, a major player in the international oil markets who is a present-daymember of Le Cercle).

Look at Wiki's entry on Ted Shakley:

Theodore "Ted" Shackley (1927-2002) was an American CIA agent. He was commonly known as the “Blond Ghost” due to his dislike of being photographed, and was involved in many important CIA operations, mostly in the 1960’s / 70s. His work included being station chief in Miami during the period of the Cuban Missile Crisis (Oct 1962), and Operation Mongoose aka "The Cuban Project" (1961 - 1962), which he directed. He was also the director of the controversial "Phoenix Program" during the Vietnam war. He was CIA station chief in Laos, 1966-1968, where he pitted Hmong villagers against Vietcong who used the Ho Chi Minh Trail. He became CIA station chief in Saigon in October 1968 (replacing William Colby), and stayed through February 1972 when he returned to Langley, VA. In 1976, George H.W. Bush appointed Shackley the CIA's Associate Deputy Director for Operations, the #3 post, in charge of worldwide covert operations. He was pushed into retirement by Stansfield Turner in 1979, after associating with Edwin P. Wilson. He worked for Thomas Clines' International Research and Trade, then formed his own company, Research Associates International. He allegedly played a role in the 1980 US presidential election's October surprise. He later became involved in the Iran-Contra Affair. Ok, re the above information, what's very interesting about Stansfield Turner is that he survived a plane crash in Central America WHICH KILLED HIS WIFE. Both this "accident" and Colby's canoe "accident" happened when Turner and Colby were long-gone from the CIA. And BOTH were considered "liberal" CIA directors.

Edited by: chiggerbit at: 9/12/06 12:23 am
