Wikipedia does a better job at compacting the facts about what happened inside a Soviet missle bunker on September 26, 1983, than I could do. If you don't know the name Stanislav Petrov, you should. He saved all of our lives by doing nothing and his superiors rewarded him by forgetting he ever existed.<br><br>100 years from now, if humans are still around and if it's a more peaceful world, I think the 9/26/83 story will look more scary than the October Missile Crisis of '62.<br><br><!--EZCODE AUTOLINK START--><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanislav_Petrov">en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanislav_Petrov</a><!--EZCODE AUTOLINK END--><br><br> <p></p><i></i>
