There's a story from BBC about raids on police, etc. in Belgium, to break-up the plot outlinte in Jeff's "Massacre Of the Innocents" 8/17/06 post. --Good call, Jeff! Here's the BBC article: ______________________________________ Belgium police hold 17 in 'plot' Seventeen people have been arrested in Belgium for allegedly planning attacks aimed at "destabilising" the country's institutions, Belgian prosecutors say. Police raided army barracks and soldiers' homes across the country. The raids were part of a two-year investigation into extreme-right activists believed to be operating inside the military. Police seized weapons and a home-made bomb during raids in East Flanders, Limburg and Antwerp. Searches were carried out simultaneously in five barracks and at 18 private addresses in a wide-ranging operation, Belgian radio reported. Those arrested were mainly "soldiers and people with an extreme-right ideology who clearly express themselves through racism, xenophobia, Holocaust denial, anti-Semitism and neo-Nazism", the federal prosecutor's office said in a statement. The main suspect is a serving military man "who intended to put terrorist ideas into practice," it added. Belgium has seen an increase in apparently race-related crimes and the country's far-right, anti-immigrant Vlaams Belang party (or Flemish Interest) has enjoyed increasing electoral support. In simultaneous raids on five army barracks and 18 private addresses across the northern Flanders half of Belgium, police uncovered a homemade bomb and numerous weapons. The raids by 150 police officers in East Flanders, Antwerp and Limburg were the most dramatic breakthrough in a two-year investigation into far-right activists allegedly operating inside the armed forces. . . . The main suspect, who is a member of the neo-Nazi Blood and Honour Flanders group, recruited in military bases throughout Flanders, the Flemish-speaking half of Belgium.

The group organises neo-Nazi concerts and distributes records by Rock Against Communism (RAC) bands. Sometimes the code 28 stands for Blood & Honour, derived from the second and eighth letters of the English alphabet, B and H. . . . The National Front split in 1986, which effectively saw the end of the WNC and its links to Rock-O-Rama. Around the same time, it was revealed that the WNC had been defrauding bands and concert-goers. Several bands left the WNC, including Skrewdriver, No Remorse, Sudden Impact and Brutal Attack. By mid-1987, these bands launched a new white power music organisation called Blood and Honour, with a magazine of the same name. The official launch was in September at a London gig, with Skrewdriver, Brutal Attack, Sudden Impact, and No Remorse. Blood & Honour welcomed bands from National Socialist, nationalist, patriotic, anti-Communist and white power views. By becoming politically independent, it supported many organisations. The late Ian Stuart Donaldson, singer of the band Skrewdriver, was the founder and one of the prominent leaders of Blood and Honour until his death in 1993. There are several official divisions of Blood & Honour, such as in the United Kingdom, Australia, Slovenia, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, and Croatia. The German division was prohibited on September 14, 2000, as was the Spanish division in 2005 after the arrest and imprisonment of many of its main leaders.
