Please Disseminate Widely!!!

I haven't found another source for this yet, but I do remember seeing a list on CNN for places to give money for hurricane relief.

One was called "Operation Blessing."

It is the number three site they recommend:

www.fema.gov/press/2005/k...tions.shtm

What is "Operation Blessing?"

A front for Pat Robertson.

Here's the link I found out about this from:

www.sploid.com/news/2005/...123509.php

Full article:

Quote:
SPLOID EXCLUSIVE: FEMA is directing Katrina donations to none other than the Rev. Pat Robertson …

Millions of Americans and people around the world have rushed to donate money to the victims of Hurricane Katrina, which is shaping up to be one of the worst U.S. disasters in history, if not the worst.

FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, is the lead federal agency in the rescue & recovery operation at work in New Orleans and the Mississippi gulf coast.

FEMA has released to the media and on its Web site a list of suggested charities to help the storm’s hundreds of thousands of victims. The Red Cross is first on the list.

The Rev. Pat Robertson’s “Operation Blessing” is next on the list.

“It’s an outrage,” said privacy watchdog Bill Scannell, who alerted Sploid to the FEMA / Robertson scam. “Operation f**cking Blessing? And it’s right underneath the Red Cross link!”

Scannell, currently campaigning against the Transportation Security Administration’s refusal to turn over personal information illegally collected from 100 million U.S. air passengers, noted that Operation Blessing’s board of directors is dominated by the televanglist and his family.

The chairman, “MG Robertson,” is none other than the Rev. Pat — Marion Gordon Robertson is his real name — while Pat’s wife DeDe is vice president and son Gordon Robertson is also on the board.

The front operation for the radical, pro-assassination televangelist and Republican power broker is also based in the Rev. Pat’s headquarters, Virginia Beach.

Robertson’s shell organizations have already collected more than $25 million from the federal government under various “faith based” federal-handout programs. And with millions of distraught citizens looking to FEMA for help in finding reputable organizations to help Katrina survivors, Robertson stands to profit magnificently from the horror that has fallen on New Orleans and the Gulf Coast.

I can add that the mailing address for operation blessing and the 700 club are the same: www.cbn.com/contact/feedback.asp (scroll to bottom for Christian Broadcasting Address.

www.ob.org/about/index.asp Look to right toward top for Operation Blessing Address.

Please spread this widely to anyone and everyone...it is an outrage.

Frankly, I do NOT trust Red Crosssss. There is an old WWII veteran here who has told his family how he was one of the Pacific islands US soldiers, WWII, told how the Red Cross was giving coffee and doughnuts or something, and when they walked for miles back off the front lines, they were CHARGED for the coffee etc.

Quote:
That means about 70% of the public's compassion has flowed to The Red Cross.
[This percentage was no doubt bloated by FEMA's mystifying screw-up when it released the names of only certain faith-based charities -- like Pat Robertson's wholly-owned nonprofit Operation Blessing -- rather than the wider group of established relief agencies.]

This skewed giving to Red Cross would be fine if the Red Cross were paying for the cost of the 80,000 people they are expertly sheltering in 240 designated shelter sites; but FEMA and the 4 affected state governments (including Texas which will shelter up to 75,000 people) are reimbursing the Red Cross under pre-existing contracts for emergency shelter and other related services. The existence of these contracts is no secret to anyone but the donating public. The Red Cross carefully says it exists by the grace of the American people -- yeah...and "people" includes the US government, 50 state governments and thousands of county governments, too.

Quote:

Since then, the American Red Cross uses slippery language about "national disaster accounts" so it has post-9/11 deniability if questioned about why funds designated or donated for one purpose were used for another.

This saga goes on but here's one man's prediction: Red Cross will have between $1 and $2 billion before Hurricane Katrina giving subsides. If they take care of 80,000 people as they are at present, that works out to between $12,500-$25,000 per victim. I can't believe each victim of Katrina will see much more than coffee and a doughnut, a cot, a blanket, a social service interviewer and perhaps receive a box of clothing or some new pots and pans.

More at The Huffington Post
