I'm starting this post with a personal note, I just need it to be public.<br><br>To Dave in NOLA, whereever you are, please be safe, please be ok, and check in when you can. We're looking for you. My thoughts are with you!<br><br>We've heard stories of countless folks, including brave GDNO1 who took off to help survivors, friends, family, and strangers alike. To those people my hat is off and more!<br><br>What worries me is what I am seeing most of: depression, avoidance, inaction.<br><br>Last night in my city there was a Katrina memorial and candle light vigil. Maybe it was that the notice went out too late. Maybe it was that the group who called for the vigil is no longer large or connected enough to inspire action. Or maybe it's something else. About 25 people showed up. It was embarrassing.<br><br>Perhaps people really do get the message, or the subtext. Maybe it's obvious to even the sheeple, you cannot resist. Maybe everyone already knows we're in a burning building, the feds have all the firetrucks and if you go out with your bucket of water you're going to be shot?<br><br>I sensed a distinct uncomfortableness in passersby, a queasy detachment. Is this how people behave when they're scared, even if it's unconscious?<br> <p></p><i></i>

There is no solidarity left in the English speaking world. Paul Wellstone stood up, was mowed down and nobody said a word.
