I'm pondering the quality of this administration's cronyism, so glaringly obvious with the non-demotion demotion of Michael Brown, and it occurs to me that there is a "special" quality to it. It feels different than the usual fraternity of thieves. It reminds me a bit of Gannongate. Is there any connection between Gannon/Guckert and Brown, or between Brown and Donald Gregg? I could care less if the Bush were having a gay affair, unless it impacted on the way Bush runs the country. Let's face it--Monica never got to be the head of FEMA, and her qualifications were about as good as Brown's. It seems illogical to me that Brown is not history right now, as he has become a very big liability to this administration. Sooo, why isn't he standing in an unemployement line? What is this??

I think that the key issue is corruptability. It sounds like a lot of people are tied into one scandal or another and during their appointments they are involved in even more scandals. This has two advantages: 1) You can't really leave the system because it'll mean exposure 2) You can count on somebody to be active in the next scandal.

The problem is of course that if somebody like Brown is scapegoat then you cannot drop him completely, so you have to move him on to another position.

www.archive.org/download/George_Bush_Doesnt_Like_Black_People/GeorgeBushDoesntCareAboutBlackPeople.mp3

I'd still like to see those Secret Service logs to see if Brown has a log-in sheet similar to Guckert's.

With almost complete thoroughness, the Bush Administration has NEVER disciplined or demoted or presecuted or fired ANYONE for their criminality, misfeasance, fuck-ups, negligence, or whatever.

The Kean Commission was an elaborately-crafted hoax to whitewash what was an enormous conspiracy of treason and complicity and coverup, and immense incompetance and failure-of-intelligence to uncover it. Tenet figuratively fell-on-his-sword for appearance sake, but when the White Hoiuse authorized a report that found him personally at-fault for not making sure the White House got accurate intelligence about Iraq's WMD capability, Tenet rebelled -- and responded with a detailed rebuttal citing chapter and verse that establishes the White House was playing fast and loose with the truth to suit their hidden war-agenda. He had turned-down a 5-million-dollar tell-all (within Security provisos, natch) book contract out of deference to Bush and the White House -- but he may now reconsider.

But the point is -- The Bush Cabal encourages loyalty by the unspoken policy of NEVER abandoning their fellow-conspirators -- This is a kind of para-military group 'family' affinity, or Brotherhood (Brotherhood of the Reptoid-clan?) Actually, I guess it's a bit like a secret society, where their shared secrets form the basis of a sacred Bond, or trust -- like a blood-oath one pays fealty to. Wierd shit -- But it DOES make for tight ranks.

Re: Brown. He was former FEMA director's Ambaugh's college roomate -- plenty room 'there' for some kinky bonding. Seems, the Repubs make lots of use of such social contacts for filling important positions.

It plain stinks. They reward and promote loyalty, not expertise or performance.

Starman

But who is even more corruptible than someone who has been sexually compromised? Compromised, which of course, is not limited to just gay sex.

Edited by: chiggerbit at: 9/9/05 4:50 pm

He plays the part of patsy so well.

"It is not enough to remove Mr. Brown from the disaster scene as Secretary Chertoff announced today. The individual in charge of FEMA must inspire confidence and be able to coordinate hundreds of federal, state and local resources. Mr. Brown simply doesn't have the ability or the experience to oversee a coordinated federal response of this magnitude," the letter said. It was signed by Sens. Harry Reid of Nevada, Dick Durbin of Illinois, Debbie Stabenow of Michigan and Chuck Schumer of New York."

Starman, I asked the other day over at Americablog whether anyone knew whether roommate meant "roommate." Another poster responded that they'd heard that they weren't actually roomates at college, just friends. I don't recall that anything was given as a source for that info, though.

Could the head of FEMA been picked to take the fall? Obvious resume issues etc... Worse case, next level of mgmt goes, and skull & bones boys fill in more spots. You need a limited hangout for these ops. It was designed to be chaotic and consequences had to be limited.

any Gannon similarities (sketchy background etc...)
