Brutal gangsters imprison the terrified girls in brothels, rape them repeatedly to break their spirits, and force them to have sex with up to 60 men each per day. Around 7000 women in Scotland work as escorts, or sell their bodies in massage parlours or saunas. And senior cops believe that 85 per cent of them - approximately 6000 - are sex slaves trafficked into Britain from eastern Europe and elsewhere. Police announced a UK-wide crackdown on sex slavery yesterday. Lothian and Borders assistant chief constable Bill Skelly launched the Scottish end of the operation and said he and his colleagues were determined to smash the "barbaric trade". Skelly added: "To the gangs, these girls are simply a commodity to be bought and sold. It is nothing short of modern-day slavery." The eastern European gangs who control the sex slaves find most of their victims in the Baltic states of Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia. Young women are lured to Britain by promises of jobs as waitresses or cleaners. They are free to enter the UK because their homelands are members of the European Union. But after they arrive, the gangmasters take their passports and force them to become prostitutes. Skelly said: "Trafficked girls do not work on the street because there is a lack of control there for the gangs. "Instead, the girls are kept as virtual prisoners inside a house or a sauna, where they are much easier to keep an eye on. They work very long hours and are hardly allowed out at all." Many of the girls are virgins when they arrive and the crooks gangrape them to "break them in". Rape is also used as a punishment for girls who disobey. Skelly said: "If just one per cent of these girls are being abused, 60 women every day are being serially raped in Scotland." Crooks from Lithuania, Russia and Albania bring the sex slaves into Scotland. They work closely with local gangsters who run the saunas and massage parlours. The cash raised from the trade goes to fund other types of crime. Passports seized from the slaves are used to smuggle more girls into Scotland from non-EU countries such as Moldova and Ukraine. And the overwhelming majority of vice girls in Scotland now come from overseas. Skelly said: "We have seen a rapid change in off-street prostitution in the last two or three years. It used to be the domain of local girls but now it is almost totally foreign girls. "In London, 85 per cent of off-street prostitutes are non-UK nationals. I do not see any reason why that figure should be any different here. "I would say around 10 women every week are trafficked into Scotland." Skelly said the sex slaves are forced to see between 40 and 60 punters every day, with each man paying around £50 a time. But the women are not paid a penny for the hell they endure. The gangsters tell them that the cash they earn pays for their accomodation, heating and food. The crooks use threats and brutality to keep their slaves in line. Skelly said: "They will say, 'We know where you live back home and if you do not comply we will kill you or your family. "We have had instances in England where girls have actually been killed after returning home. "Some of the girls eventually come to accept what they are doing and continue to work for the gangs. "Others escape or are just discarded after a time. They go back to their native countries or stay in prostitution." Many women who escape the trade are left with gynaecological problems. Others are infected with HIV, herpes, gonorrhoea or hepatitis. Skelly is one of the leaders of Operation Pentameter, a joint effort by all 55 UK police forces to take on the sex slave gangs. Officers will carry out checks at ports and airports, looking for potential victims of the sex trade. Girls thought to be at risk will be handed cards written in Russian, Lithuanian and Latvian. The cards warn women they could be at risk and list helpline numbers to call if they find themselves in trouble. The first cards were handed out yesterday as a plane arrived at Prestwick from Poland. As well as raising awareness, Pentameter units hope to free trafficked women, prosecute the gangsters and seize their assets. The head of Operation Pentameter, Gloucestershire chief constable Dr Tim Brain, described sex slavery as "a truly abhorrent crime". He added: "These women are forced into a terrible way of life. They are often beaten and gang-raped to bring them under complete control. "There is a huge amount of fear and exploitation involved, but all the friendly British punter sees is a woman he can pay for sex. "He doesn't realise he is contributing to organised crime."

Means about 24,000 more broken hearts. And Scotland? For some unknown reason this surprises me, probably because I understand little. This is one of the days I fear we really are in the end times or approaching the reign of antichrist.

This crap has been going on since the dawn of man. I don't necessarily disagree that this signals the end times, however. Today while listening to Howard Stern, I was struck by just how disgusting his guests can be, and thought, "He is the Anti-Christ!" These people were boasting about eating dog feces to be rewarded by having intercourse with a porn star, who was begging to be urinated on during the show. I still love Howard, however, because he is a champion for freedom of speech. But today's show shocked even me. What a world.

It may be true that depravity has been going on forever, but these are times when it is clear that meny, many people know there will be no consequences for their crimes. And if I offered my 2 cents worth about what I think should happen to these offenders, I'd be forbidden to post here.

THAT may be the crux of the fix we're in -- while whistleblowers are arrested and blackballed or set-up on trumped-up charges, their reputation and careers ruined by way of sending a 'message' to all -- stay in line, don't sacrifice your pension and assets, the REAL pin-striped Dons of Crime and Empire are well-beyond all risk of accountability -- Just look at Kissinger. Petty-ante hoods and convenient fall-guys get busted and serve HARD time in criminal-warehouse lock-down hellholes where rape and murder are routine, while the world's biggest con-men, mass-murderers and war-profiteers pad their nests and are lauded by a coopted fawning press as role-model paragons of integrity. It's an upside-down world where the ultimate rationalization has become the norm for the worst offenders -- It Don't Mean Nothin. punters and downloaders are still treated sympathetically by a society afraid of seeming puritanical. no money flowing into hands of rapists torturers and slave makers would end the problem. what has made us more afraid of being thought uncool enough to condemn filth, than of the end of civilisation and human rights.
