Putin's explanation:

Quote:
"People came up and I began talking to them, among them this little boy. Oh come on, y'all. We all know that grown men are defenseless like that when confronted with kittens. Presidents are no exception.

Especially those presidents who happen to be ex-spook and hold a black belt in judo, "known for his Harai goshi, a sweeping hip throw..."

(Judo is one thing that ought to come in handy when dealing with a swollen global hegemon like the USA)

I saw the clip. There was nothing innocent about the way Putin kissed that kid's stomach. He looked like a kid sneaking towards the cookie jar.

After seeing the expression on his face, and the way his hands moved, I wouldn't let that guy within a mile of any of MY kids, or anybody else's.

Hold on

Postby zjurhgvc » Fri Jul 07, 2006 7:25 pm

Well, my Russian cacameter has been oscillating wildly these days in response to our unbiased Western press coverage (and of coruse Reuters is truly unbiased because, of course, it's, um, well, it's OLD. And that means RESPECT.) Anti-Russia propaganda is building up rapidly in the West (was it ever gone? Only when we thought they'd somehow become our capitalist poodles), and this incident needs to be studied by reading a wide range of press in Russian to see if there's something we wags are not getting. I admit it was shockingly creepy, but on the other hand Russian men kiss each other as a greeting (at least, that's what I've heard). Next thing I expect is the Tyrant of Tehran holding hands with Puto-in. But wait--straight men also hold hands in some cultures.

That said, this could explain the odd personal affinity that Putin and Bush have, despite the fact that their countries are drifting toward a new cold war.
