"a boy named Toby"

Postby Ted the dog » Wed Jul 27, 2005 1:05 pm

I'm reading Levenda's Sinister Forces right now. I'm about 100 pages in and just past the stuff about Manson and his prison time.

The chilling part was when they described how Manson straightened up after only a short time at Chillicothe in 1954....especially since up to that point, he had been an absolute terror within the penal system. Manson himself is quoted as stating "I stopped thinking 1954."

The next paragraph goes on to state that,

"...Manson met a 'boy named Toby' at Chillicothe, from whom he learned hypnosis and mental manipulation."

then it goes on to describe Toby as, "...a person Manson refers to as 'definitely satanic', and the only person of whom Manson ever speaks in tones both of fear and awe."

I'm not finished with the book, so I don't know if "Toby" pops up again...according to the Index, he doesn't.

That's the first I've ever heard of "Toby", granted I'm not too up on Manson lore.

Is anything known, (or maybe suspected) as to who "Toby" is/was? Is "Toby" possibly an imaginary friend of Manson's?

www.whale.to/b/henry.html

Dave McGowan claims most serial killers were the product of gov't mind control ops-he makes a good case. Maybe "Toby" was Manson's "case officer." The purpose, it seems, is to make targeted assasinations appear to be the random work of "lone nut" killers.

yeah, that's a great essay. I just picked up McGowan's "Programmed To Kill", but I haven't read it yet.

that's pretty much what Levenda is hinting at with his portions on Manson...he doesn't outright say it, but he hints at it.

If he even existed at all, I'm wondering if "Toby" really was a boy and not an adult that was, like you said, Manson's "case officer".
