The Denver UFO Commission initiative.

Denver voters will be asked to create commission to probe UFOs

Denver voters next summer will be asked to approve the formation of a commission to study visitors from outer space.

Jeff Peckman, the 55-year-old entrepreneur behind the 2003 "Safety Through Peace" ballot initiative that asked Denver to deploy stress-reducing systems citywide, found out Monday that he had submitted enough signatures to get the issue before voters.

City Clerk and Recorder Stephanie O'Malley said he submitted 10,000 signatures, of which 4,211 were valid; 3,974 were required to place the issue on the Aug. 10, 2010, city ballot.

If it passes, Denver will be required to create a seven-member commission tasked with collecting evidence that extraterrestrials and UFOs have been visiting Earth.

Some City Council members say Peckman's efforts affirm their fears that the city's low threshold for getting initiatives onto the ballot invites frivolity. The current system for getting an ordinance change on the ballot pegs the number of signatures required to a percentage of the last mayoral vote, which in recent years has been low.

Peckman's website for the promotion of the initiative is http://www.extracampaign.org, from which the following is excerpted:

Why Create an Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission?

Knowing the truth about Extraterrestrial beings, their visits to Earth, and the broad implications of these realities for humanity, is why an Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission is needed.

The Denver ballot initiative campaign to create this commission started again May 2009 to and will be on the Denver ballot in August 2010.  The Obama-Biden administration and its pro-disclosure cabinet members have not indicated the will or courage to disclose UFO files. This is despite Obama's many promises of openness and transparency in government.

It's time to go over the heads of elected public servants directly to the voters. James Madison, American's fourth President, wrote that "The People are the only legitimate fountain of power".

According to the Disclosure Project, over 500 whistleblowers* who worked on top secret U.S. government projects:

      - NASA removes images of UFO's from its photos and videos before releasing them to the public even while "looking" for signs of extraterrestrial intelligent life, in order to keep getting over $15 billion a year in funding. [That means NASA has defrauded Denver taxpayers for tens of millions of dollars and Colorado taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars.]

      - The U.S. Government has covered up information on UFO/ET phenomena for at least 60 years as confirmed by government documents.

      - Clean energy technologies of extraterrestrial origin, that could  replace fossil fuels, have also been covered up by the U.S. government using our tax dollars to protect fossil fuel energy profits.

      - Thousands of patents for clean energy were illegally classified to prevent the public from knowing about them. Read more

      - U.S. President Carter was denied information on UFO/ET clean energy technologies, by CIA Director George H. Bush in 1977.

      - Up to fifty-seven species of Extraterrestrial beings, that have visited Earth, have already been categorized and they are all humanoid.

      - At least 4,000 landings of Extraterrestrial vehicles have left traces on Earth.

Should the U.S. government decide if and when you have a right to know these facts?
Of course not. That's a big reason why the ballot initiative was developed to create an Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission for the City and County of Denver.

The EXTRA Campaign is the official campaign of the ballot initiative to create an Extraterrestrial Affairs Commission in Denver, Colorado.

Not a great article, but I'm bumping this thread anyways...

    Denver set for UFO vote

The campaign poster shows a flying disk over the painted skyline of Denver with the printed words "Are you ready for the truth?"

Jeff Peckman plans to use the poster to get the word out for initiative 300, his ballot measure that will go before Denver voters in November.

The initiative would require the city to create the world's first government-sanctioned extraterrestrial affairs commission.

Peckman, 56, a Denver resident stresses that the initiative requires the commission to be financed from grants, gifts and donations, without requiring any money from the city budget.

He was busy this past week preparing an eight-page voter guide outlining why voters should support his efforts to bring a commission to Denver that will study UFOs and beings from outer space.

Peckman contends that the the U.S. government for years has suppressed information about aliens from outer space visiting earth.

"Everyone should ask the elected officials why they won't release this information," Peckman said. "I just know there is a cover-up, and we should dig into this and find out why and find out how we could benefit from this information the government is withholding from us the people."

To get the initiative on the ballot, Peckman submitted 10,000 signatures, of which 4,211 were deemed valid. He needed 3,974 to get the matter on the ballot.

Although no organized opposition has developed to the initiative, city officials aren't enthused.

Some council members grew so concerned that they considered strengthening the requirements to get an initiative on the ballot to prevent such issues from surfacing in the future. Currently, the city requires signatures equal to 5 percent of the votes cast in the last mayoral election

Peckman also has set up a website (http://www.extracampaign.org) touting his push where he claims "Muhammad Ali saw at least 22 UFOs and was fascinated by them" and also that "Elvis Presley had more UFO sightings and meeting than any other celebrity."

If the initiative passes, the mayor would have to appoint seven members to the commission, three of whom would need graduate degrees, and another with an M.D. At least one would have to be an expert "who had consulted at least 100 people regarding their alleged close encounters with extraterrestrial intelligent beings."

The ballot language adds that commission members "who are not Denver residents may participate from anywhere in the universe by any means available."

The duties of the commission would include evaluating the risks and benefits of potential encounters with extraterrestrials. The city also would have to publish on the city's website evidence and testimony regarding extraterrestrials on earth.
