The Cleveland UFO: What on Earth?

A strange light over Lake Erie has Cleveland residents nervously eyeing the sky. Is it a conventional aircraft or have our new insect overlords arrived?

For more than a week, a mysterious pulsating light has been appearing nightly over Lake Erie east of downtown Cleveland — showing up at approximately 7:30 pm and zipping around in the darkness for about two hours before disappearing — reports MSNBC. Captured on film from various angles, it's now drawing nightly crowds at the lakefront. While Nick Pope, former chief UFO investigator at the British defense ministry, calls it a "significant sighting," some of the UFO's fans do not exactly inspire faith: "I have absolutely no expertise in this field, but I can guarantee you that it is not human!" says Eugene Erlich, a local college student who has been videotaping the lights.

Ohio Man Claims to Have Captured Evidence of UFOs

Lake Erie, Ohio. resident Eugene Erlikh snapped a half a dozen photos of something unusual floating in the sky -- and believes it shows evidence of UFOs.

It's a bird ... it's a plane ... it's a UFO?

That's what one Lake Erie, Ohio, resident is claiming.  Eugene Erlikh snapped a half a dozen photos of something unusual floating in the sky.   Erlikh believes the photos show a UFO, Fox8.com reports.

Erlikh told Fox8.com that the objects emitted "brilliant" colors and were flying solo, and occasionally in group formations.  The objects appeared to be "making line formations and triangles in the sky."

Erlikh, an EMT and paramedic student, also recorded video footage of what he says are "astonishing captures."

Ohio Lights Case Closed - Just Incoming Jets

The objects reported nightly over Lake Erie skies at Euclid, Ohio, are incoming jet traffic from Cleveland-Hopkins International Airport, according to Ohio Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) Field Investigator Tom Wertman.

Wertman was reached by telephone late Thursday for a final disposition on the case.

Euclid, OH, resident Eugene Erlikh, 20, originally reported unusual objects out over Lake Erie that were appearing in the same spot night after night. The story was picked up by Fox News, Cleveland; and also by MSNBC.

Wertman, like many other ufologists who called or wrote to the UFO Examiner on this case were suspicious of the case from the beginning. The suspicion, they say, is when a sighting repeats itself in the same spot over many nights.

Ufologists seem to agree that sightings like this generally have a natural or manmade ending.

Wertman specifically tracked lights from the same area where Erlikh says he was seeing lights.

The two even spoke on the telephone, with Wertman outside and nearby. Erlikh was talking on the telephone from inside his high rise apartment.
