Bush, stripped naked

Postby heath7 » Mon Sep 12, 2005 6:54 pm

Remember all the fun we had reading the voice of the white house when they reported to us that Bush was an angry, overbearing asshole? Well now its official.

Check this out (courtesy of Washington Post, Newsweek, Time, etc.):

Now They Tell Us

Amid a slew of stories this weekend about the embattled presidency and the blundering government response to the drowning of New Orleans, some journalists who are long-time observers of the White House are suddenly sharing scathing observations about President Bush that may be new to many of their readers.

Is Bush the commanding, decisive, jovial president you've been hearing about for years in so much of the mainstream press?

Maybe not so much.

Judging from the blistering analyses in Time, Newsweek, and elsewhere these past few days, it turns out that Bush is in fact fidgety, cold and snappish in private. He yells at those who dare give him bad news and is therefore not surprisingly surrounded by an echo chamber of terrified sycophants. He is slow to comprehend concepts that don't emerge from his gut. He is uncomprehending of the speeches that he is given to read. And oh yes, one of his most significant legacies -- the immense post-Sept. 11 reorganization of the federal government which created the Homeland Security Department -- has failed a big test.

Here's one more choice quote:

A youngish aide who is a Bush favorite described the perils of correcting the boss. 'The first time I told him he was wrong, he started yelling at me,' the aide recalled about a session during the first term. 'Then I showed him where he was wrong, and he said, "All right. I understand. Good job." He patted me on the shoulder. I went and had dry heaves in the bathroom.'

Bush is a freakin' lunatic! Its about time the press started recognizing this.

Edited by: heath7 at: 9/12/05 4:58 pm

I, for one, was hoping NOT to see him naked and was prepared
to depart at once.

As for people coming clean: they've ALWAYS known if they're "coming clean" now. That's aiding and abetting, in my book.

Aiding & abetting

Funny how none of the perps seems to be concerned about the penalties for aiding & abetting. They're covered, right?

But only if he was going to be tarred and feathered. Heh.

I really hope this article is true. I'd love to see a press not cowed by the Shrubenfuehrer and his puppetmasters.

here

NBC's Brian Williams says the lasting legacy of Hurricane Katrina for journalists may be the end of an unusual four-year period of deference to people in power.

There were so many angry, even incredulous, questions put to Bush administration officials about the response to Katrina that the Salon Web site compiled a "Reporters Gone Wild" video clip. Tim Russert, Anderson Cooper, Ted Koppel, and Shepard Smith were among the stars.

The mute button seemingly in place since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks has been turned off.

"By dint of the fact that our country was hit we've offered a preponderance of the benefit of the doubt over the past couple of years," the "Nightly News" anchorman said. "Perhaps we've taken something off our fastball and perhaps this is the story that brings a healthy amount of cynicism back to a news media known for it."
