Jerusalem Syndrome

Postby johnny nemo » Tue Aug 15, 2006 4:49 pm

I think Dumb-ya came back from Israel with a full-blown case of Jerusalem Syndrome and he never got over it.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerusalem_syndrome

The Jerusalem syndrome is the name given to a group of mental phenomena involving the presence of either religiously themed obsessive ideas, delusions or other psychosis-like experiences, that are triggered by, or lead to, a visit to the city of Jerusalem.

The best known, although not the most prevalent manifestation of the Jerusalem syndrome, is the phenomenon whereby a person who seems previously balanced and devoid of any signs of psychopathology, becomes psychotic after arriving in Jerusalem. The psychosis is characterised by an intense religious theme and typically resolves to full recovery after a few weeks, or after being removed from the area.

The majority of Jerusalem Syndrome patients are harmless and are usually regarded with pity and/or amusement.
The most significant exception occurred in August of 1969, when an Australian tourist, Michael Rohan, overwhelmed with a feeling of divine mission, set fire to the al-Aqsa Mosque. His act was followed by citywide rioting. These events helped form the premise of a movie called The Jerusalem Syndrome. Rohan was both delusional and religious, but he met none of the other supposed signs of the "syndrome".

Camus

Assuming it's true, GWB is finally catching up with the high school reading list. What's next? "Of Mice and Men?"

Watch where Scarborough (?) talks about how much more "confident" Bush seemed when he was Governor. I would have called it a lot of things but not "confident". Anyway, I'm wondering if what we could be talking about is some sort of condition that is deteriorating.

www.rawstory.com/news/200..._0815.html

Edited by: chiggerbit at: 8/16/06 2:20 pm

OMFG. That Bellaciao link is classic. Bush appears hung over/drunk/on drugs, plain lost yet again. His rambling answer is non-sensical, lazy and stoopid.

It's quite an interesting thing to then go to the idiot at FOX (I don't know his name) and you marvel that he acts as if what we just saw was normal and okay.

These talking head idiots (we really have to stop ever calling them journalists because they're not) are going to be WWIII's version of WWII's camp guards.

<<By Jeff Norman
August 11, 2005

Cindy Sheehan is not the only Gold Star mom who felt disrespected after a visit with George W. Bush. Dolores Kesterson, whose son Erik was killed in Iraq in November of 2003, was among several military families who last year were invited to meet with Bush as a group. Each family was allotted ten minutes with the president, but because she is divorced from her husband, Dolores asked to speak with Bush one-on-one.

Dolores reports exclusively for U.S. Tour of Duty that she waited alone in a small partitioned area, wondering if her request would be granted, before a Bush aide suddenly announced, "The president will now see you." As the commander in chief strode briskly toward her, it seemed to Dolores that he was trying to intimidate her. "He came marching in and got right in my face...eyeball to eyeball, and said, 'I'm George Bush, the president of the United States, and I understand you have something to say to me in private.'"

Dolores tried to give Bush a sense of what type of person Erik had been. She described her son as a "comedian" whose favorite saying was, "Life is good." The president replied, "How do you know his life would have been good?"

Dolores was shocked by Bush's eagerness to question the value of her son's life. She told the president, "Nobody wants to die."

Before he concluded their meeting, Bush proclaimed to Dolores, "We won't know in our lifetime whether or not Iraq was a success.">>

here

Every action, every sentence clearly psychopathic.
Can it be any more clear?

My apologies if this incident has already been discussed or posted elsewhere.

rough stuff

Hmm that one makes one wonder what the pres has in the way of aides, or if he is unable to listen to them. both her maj & co and chirac , doing the talking to commoners stuff, get briefed on person they are talking to, and manage the none too difficult job of sounding concerned for 5 minutes. Bush, in this Cindy Sheenan item, comes across as a very isolated, as well as f***ed up individual.

Saw this interesting bit on HuffPo today. I don't buy the connection between Bush's crude humor and his discomfort around women. What has struck me has been his female choices for filling posts in his administration--they all seem to be spinsters. No, more than spinsters--almost genderless, if you see what I mean. Meirs, Rice.... He seems to be allregic to "regular" women. I think a lot of us here did a double-take after the Gannon thing, but I'm wondering if Bush is a true misogynist.

www.huffingtonpost.com/20...27721.html

Animal House in the West Wing

He loves to cuss, gets a jolly when a mountain biker wipes out trying to keep up with him, and now we're learning that the first frat boy loves flatulence jokes. A top insider let that slip when explaining why President Bush is paranoid around women, always worried about his behavior. But he's still a funny, earthy guy who, for example, can't get enough of fart jokes. He's also known to cut a few for laughs, especially when greeting new young aides, but forget about getting people to gas about that.
