I posted this in another thread, since I hadn't seen this one.

I'd recommend the British band Muse. They have some very topical songs. A few titles:

- Apocalypse Please
- Time Is Running Out
- Stockholm Syndrome
- Butterflies and Hurricanes
- Ruled By Secrecy
- Megalomania

They're a great band who were part of the recent Live8 shows, and sound a bit like Radiohead.

Another song that comes to mind is Porcupine Tree's song "Last Chance to Evacuate Planet Earth Before it is Recycled" which includes samples from the Heaven's Gate videotape (which is where the title comes from).

TOOL.

Anything at all. One of the few bands anywhere near the mainstream who have anything remotely interesting to talk about.

And I'm a member of their cult. Their mindcontrol drones just downloaded the commands to my brain. You will listen, or I will blow myself up and destroy this computer. Muah ha ha.

More MP3's for your listening pleasure!

Postby GDN01 » Mon Oct 03, 2005 2:30 am

One of my favorite songs is Calling All Angels by Eliza Gilkyson. I heard it for the first time on Sept. 12, 2001.

And a good friend of mine is a musician. Most of his songs have a social/political message, in addition to great lyrics. He writes the songs, sings, and plays all the instruments. Here's a few of his songs.
Perfect Soldier: about Che Guevara.
History Was Perfect
World At My Feet
Chasing Kharma
Repo Man

Just click the links and you can listen to the music without downloading.
Enjoy!
